Default The Results Just In....

OK so I went to the MD's today and they had my blood work in.. Ok no problem. we look at everything and I am in normal range for everything...however my NP said that the blood work is totally subjective and can't give a definate DX....
SO, am I the only one with "normal" labs that has just about every other sign/symptom related to this disorder? Or am I just wierd?
Thanks for everything girls!

Are you on Birth Control pills right now?

Edit: I am adding more to this because I will not be on later - If you have been on BCP's you need to stop them...PERIOD for at least 6 months before having any more blood work. The hormones in your body is what is throwin everything off. They will mess with your blood tests and the right picture if you were to get an ultrasound. Also, a bit of side info - Some blood tests and even the ultra sound should only be done at certain times of your cycle to get a TRUE reading on your hormones ect.. A thorough intellegent doctor will know this. Good luck and keep after the docs....

I'm sure it's not just you!!

I've had two main lots of bloods done. The first one I recieved a letter from the consultant (was a dermatologist, don't ask!) who said that my test results were 'essentially normal'. I had another set done by my gynecologist, he didn't go through the results with me (boo him!!) but gave me a definative dx of PCOS.

From what I've heard/read blood tests aren't always a great diagnostic tool because of the change in hormones across your cycle. Also if you are on BCP your blood tests wouldn't show your normal hormone levels to give a dx.

Blood tests can be used in conjunction with other things eg ultrasounds and presentation of symptoms to make the dx.

Hope that makes sense!!

I'd give up chocolate, but I'm no quitter.

I am not disorganized, I have anti-systematic methodology disorder.

What Coz said!
Sometimes the docs need an ultrasound to dx pcos. I would ask for that or find a more PCOS knowlegable doc.

Hi Girls!
Off the record...I went off the pill the first of May...So, maybe I need to wait a little longer...If ever questioned about this I wil deny it whole heartedly...(BF doesnt know and would flip although he is very supportive-he would not understand this...)
I just decided to become my own science project...I've got to start somewhere right?
I've been to fertility.com and started tracking...and we have had sex during times that we shouldnt have...no dice...I go off the pill and my body goes right back to where it was before...
I guess I have to wait for the chemisty to catch up...
Thanks!!!

You're definitely not the only one! See the other post in this section by Jeanie2005. Have you had the ultrasound done?

side note: Your BF should be aware of the fact you went off....I would hate to have you get PG (it would be great and I can fully understand the project but..) and him be angry with you. Trust in him - -

I think you do need to give it more time 6 months min chickie

Wink Labs

My labs always tested normal from like age 15-25 and I definatly had PCOS, ofcourse it wasn't diagnosed as that because of the labs and I went untreated. Doc said to take BCP's which I had been on since I was 15 because of no AF!! When I was 25 I too decided to go off the pill and just see. Now I am 30 and I have PCOS, Pre-Diabetic, IR, labs confirmed. So I think being on the pill all those years did effect my labs. I mean, I know I had puberty onset, but it wasn't until 11/04 that I was "offically" diagnosed. Go Figure!!

I would stay off the pill, but I wouldn't hide it from your BF. You should be able to be open about that stuff with your SO!!

Stormy~
