Default is this right-miscarriage mentioned

Hi everyone,
Well, i waited for 2 weeks like the doctor said and then made appointment for d & c. Well that night about 3pm I started to bleed, by 6pm the cramps started, by 8pm, i had contractions about 5 min apart w/ blod clots to follow each one. That lasted until about midnight, and then everthing went really bad. They moved to about 2 min apart, and OMG, they hurt so bad they knocked me down to the ground. Then finally at 1:10am after a huge contraction and passing ( i believe baby one) I had about 10 min of relief. Then they started again, all until 3:30 and then passed the 2nd one. After that the cramps were gone, but then the real bleeding started. I was so scared that I called my husband (who was working) to call and check on me every hour, which he did. I went through 10 of the overnight pads along w/ being on the toilet in less then one hour. This happend until about 7am and then everything calmed down, I slept for about 1 hour. Woke up feeling releaved that the cramping was over. The bleeding was heavy that day like a really heavy period, but today, it is alot better. I have some cramping, but I think that most of it is due to the cramping the night before.
My question is that, could I have lost everthing in one night? I have heard that is usually takes about a week. I don't know. I can't believe there is much left, but I have a hard time believing that it could all happen at once.
Sure could use some advice. So I know if I need to worry or not. My doctor isn't worried at all.

Thanks
chrystal

I am so sorry for your loss. Your doctor should do an ultrasound to make sure you passed everything. Or at the very least, bloodwork to make sure your HCG level is down to zero. If you don't pass everything, you may get an infection.

Oh Chrystal, sweetie I'm so sorry. I agree that you definatley should have an ultrasound done to make sure you've passed everything and also have your hcg monitored. I'm so, so sorry honey.

First off, I'm really sorry for your loss.

I don't think there's a right or a wrong way to m/c. Each body is completely different and each m/c in that body is different.

I m/c last year and there was nothing in the sac, but bled heavily with huge clots for 4 days. I just finished a m/c where there was a heartbeat and everything - I bled heavily and cramped for 12 days but didn't pass hardly any clots and absolutely no tissue. I went in today and my betas are at 10, so I'm officially done. My body must have reabsorbed everything. (?!)

What I'm getting at is that you may have had one massive "cathartic" episode. Call your doctor and ask to have bloodwork done. My RE is going to do a hysteroscopy with my next period to make sure that everything is gone, but said that they would normally see higher levels in the betas if there were retained tissue. It's a load off my mind, and I would suggest that you'll feel some relief as well to have some answers.

*HUGS* I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's very possible that you did pass everything. Spotting/bleeding is simply a prelude to the actual passing of the baby, and how long that lasts can be totally different for different people.

How far along were you? When I had my m/c the doctor thought the baby died around 10 weeks. When she gave me my options, what she told me about a natural m/c around that time is exactly what you described. Lots of pain, and lots of blood. She said that many women end up going to the ER because they're worried about all the blood.

It's most likely over, but the bleeding could still last a while. Still, the doctor should do an u/s to be certain that everything has passed.

*HUGS* I'm so sorry.

I am sorry hun, sadly your experience sounds so much like mine. The contractions were horrible, the worst pain I've ever felt! Also, I bled a lot too, very scary amount!

Have them check your iron, and like mentioned above, see if they will give you a scan to make sure its over. ***HUGS*** I am so sorry

Sorry for your loss. With my experience, miscarriages are different for everyone. All my losses were very different. From severe cramping and bleeding to harldy having any blood and not even having to use a pad. I would also suggest you have an ulstrasound to make sure eveything is gone. With my last mc I bled so little, I knew it wasn't right but my ob (or his frickin nurse) just kept blowing me off, saying I didn't need to be seen. I decided to see another Dr., one who specializes in ruccuring loss. An endometrial biopsy showed leftgover products of conception which caused in infection (endometritis), which left untreated will cause future mc's. I was treated with very strong antibiotics. Hopefully it is gone. I hope you feel better soon.

I am so sorry you are going through this. My first m/c happened at 11 weeks and was almost exactly as you described. That first night there was lots of pain, lots of blood- I passed the baby, and for the first day bled very heavily. The following day I had an u/s, which showed that I had indeed passed the baby and was told that now my body would shed the built up lining just like it was a regular AF. For the next week I had AF type bleeding, but never really passed any more clots or anything like that.
