 Righteous Elizabeth & Prophet Zachariah
Hello Ladies,
Awhile back I saw a couple of people of the Roman Catholic Faith talk about St. Gerrad(I am terrible sorry about the spelling). So, I decided to tell you about the couple in my subject line.
Today, while I was reading about the lives of Saints, I read about Prophet Zachariah and his wife the Righteous Elizabeth. How the story on thier lives goes is that the Righteous Elizabeth was barren and she didn't bear any children. Prophet Zachariah while he was in the Temple praying and doing the work of the priest(rabbi) the angel Gabriel came and told the Prophet that he and his wife would have child and to him John.
Needless to say they both prayed to God for a child, for the longest of times, and in thier faith, they were granted child, who turned out to be John the Baptist(Forrunner).
So, we have an extremely good example of how a couple's faith brought them a blessing.
Sorry for the rambling. I hope that you don't mind an Orthodox Christian prospective on the issue of praying for intercession from a saint or God-fearing person(s).
