I swear, I'll be so happy when we're done w/ this paperchase!
I still haven't heard from our HS agency and she was supposed to contact me yesterday so I'm giving her until the end of Monday and then will contact her!
The adoption agency needs another letter from my health insurance company b/c I have an individual policy that was a conversion policy from my former employer but it's not considered COBRA.
And my dr has had my medical forms for going on 2 weeks and I still haven't gotten them back...giving that until Monday after mail comes too!
And to top the cake: I got my passport today and my last name is spelled WRONG! So now next week we have to go down to the passport office and get another one issued...I'm hoping I don't have to wait another month (which it actually got her rather quickly...I just went to the passport office on 5/9!)!
Just had to vent!
On another note we went nursery browsing the other day and came home w/ a piece of clothing which is probably going to be huge but it was cute and we had to get it!
Also, DH is pretty close to furnishing our nursery, almost did yesterday!

I'm glad that your getting the nursery started and buying a few clothes. I've been hearing that it's a good way to get through the rought times of the paperchase. So Keep pushing through it.
I would walk straight down to the Dr.'s office and get those copies and send them myself. If you need them notaraized take them to a natory., etc. It's free at a local bank in most cases. Calling them and telling them you've waited two weeks for them, they are important for the paperchase and your picking them up in 20 minutes will get their booty in gear. You gave them enough time......now get aggressive.
As for the other, isn't there a way to get a new agency, or have you already started the process with them??
Keep your chin up. It's going to happen. Just a bit slower than we'd like sometimes!

Aw sweetie. So sorry these things are happening. I know it's tough sometimes, when things happening are out of your control. It stinks!
Good luck--be a toughie and call them all on Monday and tell them you've given them all plenty of time and to get a move on!!

I got my passport today and my last name is spelled WRONG!
Oooooh, this would p**s me off. I have a "difficult" last name (thanks, DH!) and stuff gets spelled wrong all the time (my car title came to me wrong, although all my bills sure were correct when they wanted my payments, ha ha.) Do you have to pay to get a new passport since surely it was their mistake? I hope not.
Thankfully I don't have to pay again b/c it's their mistake but this time I'm mailing our marriage certificate along w/ my birth certificate and the wrong passport! I could really use the wrong passport if we were just traveling and not adopting but alas, I need the right passport so we don't get stuck in China
We bought bedding the other day, it's so cute!
It's Gossamer Wings! We bought the bedding set, lamp & shade, clothes pegs, 3 butterfly pillows for the walls, a pillow (that matches the set) for the chair, wall hangings, fleece blanket (that's pretty huge and not like one of those little newborn ones!), I can't remember what else....
I did the wall touchup today and tomorrow (my 30th birthday btw) I'm going to start drawing the stencil (I already drew part of it to see how I liked it).
We're also looking at furniture but can't figure out what to get! I know I want a convertible crib & all the furniture is going to be white.
I also decided to give my dr until Wednesday for me to get it in the mail. I'm going to call on Wednesday. Maybe she mailed it directly to both places I'm also going to give the HS agency until Wednesday. I'm thinking that maybe she needs ALL the paperwork before they schedule the appt.

I can't wait to get that far. Oh Guess what Traci...I forgot to tell you. I got a better job...they called me today and offered me an office job Starting at 18k after 3 mos. Well over that. With Insurance, and all the benefits. I work a set schedule from 830-5 and have weekend and holidays off. Can you believe it? I can have a LIFE outside of work!! Thats a step in the right direction where adoption is concerned. Doug is having a terrible time finding a job that pays well that will work around his medical schedule. Big prayers for that! So thats a praise right there. I guess that will get us closer to the June paperchase. Oh, I just noticed. Exactly 1 year until Paperchase. WooHoo!
I can't wait until your DTC!! I wish they'd hurry up already! Don't they know I'm living Vicariousely through you guys??

I just got an email from the SW. Here's what she said:
Hi Traci,
These are the things I am still missing from your file:
1 reference letter
Criminal reports (I sent off for them, so we are just waiting for the results)
Letter from Insurer (Do you have an insurance manual? If so, we can use that.)
Both doctor’s reports
Let me know if this information sounds right. Also, for your file we need a letter of explanation about the arrest for the unpaid traffic tickets. Just a simple explanation of how it led up to the arrest as well as any fines or community service that had to be done. Basically, what the outcome? We also need a police record from the department where the arrest occurred and the court disposition. Please let me know of any questions you have.
I swear! This stupid arrest is going to be the death of me We've already gone to 2 counties and gotten certified letters stating that there is no record! I mailed them to her and she still needs all this cr*p!
So apparently, the hold up is for the criminal record check (which would show if there was a record...doesn't make any sense to jump through all these hoops unless it actually shows up on the check!)

Oh my...this is a lot to deal with. Try to take each item separately so it doesn't overwhelm you. I'm still surprised they can't start he homestudy once the criminal checks are in then let you get the other items as you can. You can at least get started I would think.

Rebekah - Yup, we're going to the PD that he was arrested by on Thursday to get a copy of the arrest record. I think she did kinda forget b/c after I reminded her that we got letters from 2 counties that there was no misdemeanor record in either county she said she'd have to look at them again. Thankfully, the PD isn't too far from our house (about 30 mins)!
Lisa - They're still waiting for the criminal checks to come back (mine for state & FBI; Chris for state). I think once they're in we'll be able to schedule the HS.
We're figuring we'll have the HS appt this month and the report next month. After that it should be smooth sailing b/c basically all our other paperwork is done!
