Rollercoaster of hormones... Pill, patch, ring. HELP!
I was on birth control (Orthocylen, which I don’t believe they make anymore) for 8 years. I stopped taking it because I was so sick of taking a pill every day that I started to gag really bad when I’d swallow them.
I didn’t have AF for 6 months, so it was at this point when I was diagnosed (thin cyster). It has been a rollercoaster since then. I was put on the patch, which had uncomfortable side effects for the first 3 months or so (tenderness, moods, general discomfort) that seemed to level out. I had a follow up visit with OBGYN and we decided to try the ring. That was wonderful as far as how I felt—hormones were great, but I was very prone to yeast infections (TMI, I know!) so that had to GO! So… back to the pill (ortho tri-cyclen)… but two chemical PG later (NOT TTC!)
So… *drumroll, please* I am back on the patch. Again, I had 3 months of side effects which seemed to level out and I’d have a few ok months, some uncomfortable. But last night I just started to lose it. Tenderness, mood swings, discomfort, zero sex drive (again, TMI!)… It got to the point last night that I just went and ripped the patch off. I’m not sure what to do.
Anyone else out there that has had these problems or that can help?

Oh yes..but I'm off them for good. Question,,,,I thought they were going to take the patch off the market? Because of the deaths that women were having b/c of it.
I have endometriosis and fibroids, cysts. I'm thinking of having a hysterectomy.

I'm not on any birth control right now, but I have been in the past. The first one that they put me on was horrible. It was desogen, I don't know if they make it anymore. I had really bad mood swings with it. For example, one day I was at work and I dropped a pencil and as a result burst into tears. I called the doctor and they switched me to Lo-Estrin 1.5/30. That one was so much better, the side effects were practically nil. It has been a number of years ago so I can't say for sure if they make it anymore, but you could look into it and if not maybe ask your doctor which ones are on the market that might be comparable. Hang in there!
Are you taking just for birth control? Get a copper IUD, forget the hormones. I had one for 8 years, until I had biopsy (unrelated to IUD) and then ttc journey started.

Doc has given me a script for Ortho-tricyclin LOW. Very low dose. Hopefully won't make me fat and crazy like the last BC i took. I have been on the pill, the shot, and the patch. GOOD LUCK DOLL!
