Question Rosacea and bleaching products???

Has anyone used any bleaching products for their rosacea? It was recomended that I start using Mary Kay Spot Solution twice a day. The main ingredient is Hydroquinone (generic), better known as Esoteric or Porcelana. I thought this was useful for bleaching dark patches of skin only---not for the redness of rosacea. I just don't want to waste my money, KWIM??

TIA

Hi, April_Bee!

Have you been to a dermatologist? It is important to get this professionally treated as it can get worse if left untreated.

I was diagnosed with rosacea about a year or two ago by my dermatologist. I don't know about the Mary Kay Spot Solution, but I was using Mary Kay skin care at the time, but now I can't because it was making the rosacea worse. This is not to put down Mary Kay products as they are generally quite good; actually any non prescription skin care would have probably aggravated my condition. I was starting to get red bumps on my nose in addition to the redness of the cheeks.

Rosacea can't be cured, but it can be controlled. My dermatologist gave me a prescription for Metrolotion, which is made specifically to control the red flushing of Rosacea. If I use it faithfully twice a day, it does help, although nothing seems to help the flushing of my cheeks after I take a bath (I like hot baths!)
The red spots are gone, thanks to this lotion.

It comes in either gel or lotion.

Here is the website for it. This is an informative site.

Sorry, I don't have rosacea. But I have read about a skincare line that helps with rosacea (it's not only for rosacea, though). The line is Aromaleigh. It's natural products made with essential oils. There are serums you can use as moisturizers that have antioxidant properties. I read on the Aromaleigh message board that antioxidants ease the inflammation. HTH

Thanks Kathryn and dorionrenee for your replies!!

Your advice has helped. I checked out the websites you suggested, and will ask my dr about it. I used Metrogel in the past. I didn't use it long enough to really see a difference though. Too impatient I guess. :o

Thanks again!!!!
