Rosacea sufferers, my sister is willing to be a guinea pig...
Me and my sister suffer from rosacea. Mine was treated through laser. Very expensive and I have a little scar left from it. My sister's is really bad, well that is what she says. It is on her face, nose, and chin. She is sick of using the medicines which really dont help her much.
We saw an article in the local paper about a man who used vicks vapor rub and then topped it off with clearasil. In a few weeks his was gone with no medicines anymore. He did try it later without clearasil and he said it still stayed clear. My sister is trying this and I'll let you all know how it works out. She has rosacea subtype 1 with redness and multiple visible blood vessels.
No offense but this remedy sounds like it would do more bad than good. Who knows what kind of nutter wrote that letter.
It makes no sense because rosacea skin is ultra sensitive and prone to reacting badly from harsh chemicals/ingredients. And vicks and clearasil are formulated with ingredients that are harsh and irritating. Vicks has Camphor, Eucalyptus Oil, Menthol, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Turpentine Oil. And clearasil has 10 percent benzyl peroxide which I find to be also too strong for sensitive skin and 2.5 % concentrations are better. Clearasil also has isopropyl myristate which is known to clog pores.
Well so far, no difference. I think she is going to try it for awhile longer but who knows if it will do anything.
thestreets- She doesnt have a problem with acne from rosacea, actually she has super dry skin so the pores probably would not be an issue with her, just redness and blood vessels that are very visible on her cheeks. She isnt trying clearasil either just vicks.
