I was diagnosed with rosacea about 2 years ago. Not only did I have the occasional red flushing of the face, but my nose was beginning to get tiny red bumps, too. My dermatologist prescribed Metrolotion and I used it faithfully and the bumps went away. The redness still flares up occasionally, especially if I have been in the wind, or if I drink my beloved wine!
There is no cure for Rosacea, but it can be controlled.
Here's the for Metrolotion and gel...explore the website; it has good information about rosacea:
I found that for me, I only apply it once a day instead of twice, because, ironically, it was irritating my skin a bit. My derm. says that's OK, some people are a bit sensitive.
If I go out in public, I put the Metrolotion on and then let it dry for about 5 minutes and then put liquid makeup (Mary Kay in this case, but I am looking into Estee Lauder line) lightly over that to keep the redness from showing in case I get a flare up.
I suddenly ended up with it and I hate it. I have always had good skin and then one day viola!! Now I ended up with it. The nest thing I found in the mornings for this is Cetaphil Lotion. No perfumes or colognes in it and if I do use the colognes, my face just starts flaring up.
Rosacia popped up right when my PCOS got out of control, so I believe it's linked to hormone imbalance...at least in my case. I struggled with it for 4 years and none of the prescriptions they gave me ever did anything to help it. Then I started Met in Jan/06 and my skin drastically improved. I rarely get flare ups now & when I do I use a little bit of Elidel cream that my new Derm gave me for a day or two & it goes away. I don't know if it would work for anyone else, but it does for me.

I use to have rosacia right after I had my DD. It seemed like being stressed or taking an overly hot shower made it worse. I guess those two things to avoid would probably help. I also went to the doctor and he gave me something called Avar Green. The green helps to counteract the red in your skin lessening the effect. HTH!

Both of my parents have it. My dad is on minocycline for it and puts something called sulfucet on his face at night. Hes been doing it for prolly 20 years :3 And it works! My mum doesnt take anything for hers and it looks horrid. Hmmm theres no pcos in my family but there is roscea (sp?)....connection? maybe
I have it, its my cheeks that suffer worst, and I need to be very careful what to use as a cleanser or it gets every more red and bumpy.
I got a gel from the doc which I've lost! I'm going back on thursday to get more because it worked a treat.

I've had rosacia for a few years, but it's gotten worse the last few months. I've also got 'acne' to boot. I've been using Finacea on/off and it works well on the 'acne' but hasn't done much for the redness, which sucks. My Mother and Grandmother both have it too but none of the meds they recommended have worked on me.
