Default Rosemary oil can help with hair loss!

Rosemary oil used as a topical on the scalp is supposed to stimulate hair growth while also moisterizing and darkening hair. It has a strong smell but it is a nice aromatheraputic smell and you can dilute it before rubbing onto the hair and scalp.

Here is some info (from http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsHerbs/Rosemarych.html)

Alopecia

As stated above, one traditional use of rosemary has been to try to stimulate hair growth. In one study of 86 people with alopecia areata (a disease of unknown cause characterized by significant hair loss, generally in patches), those who massaged their scalps with rosemary and other essential oils (including lavender, thyme, and cedarwood) every day for 7 months experienced significant hair re-growth compared to those who massaged their scalps without the essential oils. It is not entirely clear from this study whether rosemary (or a combination of rosemary and the other essential oils) was responsible for the beneficial effects.

When I put it on before I go to bed at night, it feels really soothing and tingles the scalp. Since getting off the met and more rescently diane35, the hair loss has slowed down. While I still lose alot of hair in the shower and on my pillow, there is some new growth at the temples and front of hairline. I'm not sure what to contribute this to: getting off the pills, the vitamin and mineral supplements, the saw palmetto, rosemary oil on the scalp. All I know for sure is the hairloss problem is improving and the hair itself looks much healthier. Now hopefully I will start to notice some improvment with the hirsutism.

hey sian
i understand what u are saying.i have been on vitex, vitamin b comp, prenatals, epo with vit e and multi amino acids, for 3 weeks and now with 1tsp fresh ground cinnamon since last week. also am taking ayurvedic topical treatment for hair.
i feel i can see small hair that has grown on teh temples and hairline...its doesnt feel empty like it was before.
so theres hope.....as long as the hair is not falling out and u feel hair is growing.it takes time.
do take a snap of your hair now and compare it a few weeks later. thats what i did.

its a combinations of vitamins and minerals that we are taking that is helping it and the external treatment too.

lets keep our fingers crossed.

Hey Han,

I was wondering what is in the ayurvedic topical you are using for your hair? I am curious because I used to waitress at cafe run by a family from Southern India who specialized in ayurvedic cooking and health drinks. They fed me everyday and I had never felt healthier, more energetic. Is this something you buy or do you make the topical yourself?

hey sian,
if u have the underatdning of herbs then u can make your own concontions to apply.
but i have signed up for alopecia treatment by dr rohit shah in india. and curently he has posted me 6 months hair treatment which contains hair regrowth oil, hair oil and hair food mix (this is a powder of herbs u have to mix with yoghurt and apply to hair 2-3times a month)
hair fall is very less..almost 10-20 hairs.
he had stated for angrogenetic hair fall it take 8-9months of treatment and results can be seen in 3-4months.

fact is we need to heal from within as well as from the outside.i felt safe with him since he does only external treatment.
the photograph testimonials are very good at his site..unlike other sites where i cud not see for myself what they were testifying for.

take a look at his site and let me know what u feel.
www.alopeciacure.com.

you can also buy the ayurvedi herbs but u need to check their classification...under herbs u usually get a section called ayurveda. better to research more on that before consuming or best to consult with a proper ayurvedic doctor.

Hi Han,

Thanks for the link. I checked it out and am impressed how informative the site is. The pictures of the different types of hair loss and the treatment for each type is helpful. Now I definately know that my type is androgenic and not just from vit b malabsorption alone. It is also nice that the site has info on how to deal with anemia and b-12 deficiency. I got a book on aryurvedic healing and cooking so I definately will do some research.
