Question Running out and need an alternative to help for a month.

I'm running out of Levoxyl ((100mcg)). Until my husbands insurance is active November 9th.

Is anyone taking an herb that can help with my thyroid while I'm out of meds? I don't want to be sick and depressed for a month. I don't want to go to a dr. yet either, we'll have a 200.00 deductible and the money we'll dish out without being counted as part of the money for deductible..well, we can't really afford to do this.

Anyone have any ideas....Keep in mind, we moved from Ohio back home to Central NY. My dr. in Ohio isn't allowed to write a script in NY ( I don't think) and because it's been over three months, He'd want to see me in his office in Ohio. No can do.

Most prescriptions are valid in any state. Go to a local pharmacy and have them transfer your prescription from your old pharmacy. That way you won't have to see a dr immediately.

Thanks, but we stopped using walgreens two years ago because it was cheaper for us to use the Insurance pharmacy which gave us a 90 supply of meds for almost the same price as a 30 day supply. So I don't think they can forward to a regular pharmacy can they??

I would call the insurance pharm to see if a local pharmacy would be able to fill it for you. You really shouldn't be without your Synthroid!

Here is a idea. Do you have enough left so that you can cut them in half and make them last a little longer? This would be far better to your body than going off cold turkey. You will be more than depressed. When my DR (long story) took me off my thyroid meds cold turkey I gained back the 25 pounds it had taken me a year to loose in 3 moths! Maybe you can get some samples somewhere? I wish you were near me I would help you out. My Dr is switching me to the armour.
Sorry about the insurance stuff. Take care and hang in there.

Thanks so much. I appreciate your response dear friend! I think I'm now set though. You'll have to let me know how you feel on that Armour though. I've wanted to get on it, but the dr. in Ohio refused to prescribe it. SO, I'm hoping sooner or later I'll get on it here in NY.
