Default It's all new to me...

...new to this site (so Helllllooooo), new to what's happening to me.

I have ben struggling with health issues for the last 2 years, blood tests were never 'quite right' and I continued being tired all the time, depressed, lethargic and periods all over the place.

My previous Dr kept sending me for blood test after blood test until I eventaully saw a new GP who thought I may have PCOS and sent me for a preliminary blood test. The results came back without any signs of PCOS but they did show I had severe hypothyroidism.

I began thyroid treatment and as quickly as my weight increased so did my periods to the point where I started one the first week in July and had a constant period until September 6th and since then I have had a 4 or 5 day gap followed by 7-10 days on.

In the meantime I relocated and chaged GPs. He seemed quite unsympathetic to my situation and berated me for being obese. To his credit though he did recommend an ultrasound which took place within 2 weeks of me seeing him.

I went for my scan, full to the brim with water (as you need for this scan) and sloshed off to hospital. During the scan the lady Dr carrying it out made various comments about "that might be a polyp", "that could be a fibroid" and took a lot of photos. She then instructed me to go to the toilet and return for an internal scan (yuck).

She turned the screen away from me during this scan and eventually said that I have poly cystic ovaries; something my Dr had queried on the scan application. Apparently the results will be ready in about 10 days - so the end of this week. She aslo suggested my womb lining may be too thick and I would probably need further investigative procedures done (oh the joy). I cannot help feel she wasn't letting on to something but time will tell.

So here I sit now, awaiting the formal diagnosis from my Dr, scared, tired, unsure, depressed, wondering where all these health issues will end.

Thank you for being here.I have family and friends who I can tell all of this to but I think unless you live it, you would never really know how this feels.

I look forward to 'meeting' you all very soon and hope in some small way I will also be able to suport others in similar situations.

Sam

It was all blood tests, I was under a haematologist for almost a year. The ultra sound and internal scan have been the most 'productive' to date.

i would request more blood tests done again, like insulin, glucose, horomones. Just to be sure it cant hurt to have them all done again. As for the dr. i would just tell the dr what i want and ask her/him to humour me with the testing

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to wait and see what he says when the scan results are in and go from there

Welcome Sam. Sorry you had a bad doc. Sometimes it takes a few docs to get one that will work with you. I agree to wait and see what the doc says about the results and go form there. There is a ton of great info here and there is even an Aussie/Kiwi forum!!!
