My Mood: Points: 25,824.38 Bank: 1,530,023.68 Total Points: 1,555,848.06 | It's not working! I'm so angry...when I started on Met somewhere around 2 years ago, my endochronologist said that I'd have my period in 3 months, and the hair would start to become thinner in 6 months. Neither happened, so after about a year ago my gyno and I decided to put me on BCP in addition to Met, so I'd at least be getting these hormones and getting a period, etc.
A few weeks ago, I had an abdominal CAT scan for something unrelated, and when my results came back there was a note about how I had a very high number of ovarian cysts.
Has this Met been doing nothing the past two years?! Ugh!
I am meeting with a new doctor at the beginning of January, because my old endo wasn't really helpful, so maybe she'll have another idea. But I'm so frustrated that I've been going through all of the awful side effects of Met for the past two years now, for Nothing! |

I'm glad you're getting another opinion...BCP can work for some, but for women with really easy to move hormones or really sensitive insulin they can counter-act the m,etformin, so I'd dialogue more on that with the new Dr.
Also, what's your diet and exericse situation like? I was on met for over a year and in the same boat...my hormones were still whacked and my periods were nutty. I decided to start the IR diet to control my insulin and commit to really regular exercise and it was like a new drug. The weight came off slowly, but twice the rate it did before and my periods became like clockwork and my labwork all normalized within about 6 months. If you aren't already, take a closer look at diet and exercise...I'm now a really firm believer that that aspect is really huge.
Good luck..let us know how your new Doc goes!
