Four weeks ago, someone suggested that I might have PCOS. I quickly went and checked on the web for what it was, for the symptoms. Seeing that I had most of them, I started to worry, and I spoke to my mother. We quickly got me into the Doctor, on the 14th. She agreed with this diagnosis, but wanted to be sure, and so I had to go through blood tests.
The blood test was not fun, I had to go on the next monday, fasting. Because I did not drink enough water, they had to find a few veins to do the blood tests. To fill the eight vials that they needed to, it finally drawn from the hand.
Then the waiting came. It is amazing the fear that the mind can bring during the long nights. Finally, the day came. I was put into an office, and told that my testosterone was high, and combined with my other symptoms, I had PCOS. And, the thing I was not expecting, that I also had hypothyroidism.
I am now coming here, for advice and to learn the most that I can about this. I am happy to see that there is a community that I can find people who are like me, and perhaps later on I can also help others like me.
A quick bit about me: I am eighteen years old, going on nineteen. I volunteer at the library and I work cleaning houses. In the fall, I hope to be going to college so that I can move toward becoming a librarian, to get my degree. I live in Utah, and I enjoy reading and my five cats.
