Good luck calling her office! I've been trying to get an appointment with her and it's like hitting a brick wall. They really encourage you to go through your PCP first. They won't let you just "self-refer" yourself to her. Well, unfortunately, my PCP doesn't know squat about PCOS, so she's not likey to refer me. I'm taking some cloak and dagger measures now, and I'll let you know how that turns out.

Oh the things we do just to get good PCOS care!

Nisha,

How did your appointment with Dr. Kasim go? I don't want to bend over backwards to get an appointment with her, if she isn't all she's cracked up to be.

She's great! Very knowledgeable about PCOS and encouraging about me getting pregnant! She put me on the South Beach Diet, just for the short term, since I am TTC. I of course, ahd to go through the basic questions, which were asked by her resident and a medical student (it's UC, and they're a teaching hospital). I didn't mind too much, 'cause the more doctors that know about PCOS the better for our fellow cysters.

She does want to put me on a plan once I get pg and have the baby (her words). I really think she's worth all the trouble. She even gave me a hug and a follow-up appt. for next month.

HTH.

My doctors consist of Dr Kasim-Karakus and Dr Duleba. I am so pleased with them and I highly recommend them. They both specialize in PCOS and are very progressive.

Dr Kasim-Karakus only accepts patients by referal, it took me 6 months to see her and I was referred to her by Dr Boyers. However it was worth the wait.

I do not recommend Dr Boyers at UC Med Center.

I've never actually discussed hair loss with her...my priority is pregnancy. I did have an appointment with her this morning and I noticed she is running a PCOS research study.

She only sees patients on Thursdays (I believe) and you must be referred in order to see her.

I believe she is very open to providing prescriptions. Today she asked me what she can do to help me achieve my goals. This was in addition to the plan we already have in place, which I think is very nice. She did mention a few things, however I wasn't interested and don't really remember what they were.
