My first appointment with Klooster was 11/05. Our only child was stillborn 12/04 and we tried for 6 months on our own and then had an OB rx Clomid even though I had no ovulatory disorders. She told me because I was nearly 36 (and my FSH was ONLY 6.6 when I started) that I needed a "boost". (This is also a Kaiser Dr who "didn't know" that a 26 week baby had to be buried. She told us he'd spend eternity in the path lab. This was Dr. Yu-Yeah "Mimi" Tzeng in Stockton. Not sure on first name spelling).
Klooster is "charming" and he's good looking, but I think he's full of it. He continued to blame my age, even though my FSH and Estradiol levels were good and happily designed a treatment plan that used up the $5,000 inheritance I had. I also responded well to the meds. We were told that DH was a "Semen demon" and to just "keep practicing". I told him I had a 4 generation history of endometriosis, yet he REFUSED to do a laparoscopy until after I had had 3 failed Repronex cycles. Both Clomid and Repronex gave me horrendous abdominal pain and finally I screamed at him and threatened to file a complaint and I finally got my lap which revealed level I/II endo. (I believe the endo was also being stimulated with the drugs.) At my f/u appt 4/06 he told both DH and I that endo releases an irritant which acts like an IUD in that it keeps the uterus irritated enough not to allow implantation.
My mom came with me to my antral follie check for my 5/06 cycle (my last cycle) and she mentioned to him about the 4 generation history of endometriosis and that she'd had portions of both ovaries removed @ 16 due to endo. He told her that was medically impossible and poopoo'd that her periods could've started when she was 8.
9/06 DH went with me to a final appointment for me to tell him off. He'd been pushing us for IVF even though I told him we could NOT afford it and I was offended. The Kaiser clinic had just become a full IVF clinic and he bragged they had a 67% success rate because they'd preformed a whopping 3 IVFs and 2/3 of them resulted in BFPs. I confronted him about ignoring my pleas for the lap and the fact that he told BOTH of us (this is why someone always came with me because I figured out early on that he's full of it) that endo can cause IF. He backpedaled, copped a 'tude and told me he had patients get pg despite endo and that it WAS NOT a cause of IF. One of the causes of our baby's death was chorioamnionitis, inflammation of the amniotic fluid which is caused when bacteria from the vagina migrates. I have had chronic problems with bacterial vaginosis (fishy smell after sex with itchies but it's not a yeast infection). Infections in the reproductive tract can lead to IF (changes Ph in the vagina). This is why IVF patients are given a course of doxycycline prophylactically to kill and germies that might be in there that might cause a cycle to fail. Would he listen? Of course not. He told me all women have BV at all times and if it hadn't've become socially unacceptable to have odor issues, douches would've never been invented.
When all is said and done, we now live in another part of the country and am now a patient at one of the best fertility clinics in the country. Klooster never did a Kruger semen analysis on DH. Yes, he has lots of swimmers, but 97% of them are abnormal, so all his comments to me about my age weren't necessarily true, but after undergoing 7 rounds of hyperstimulation for NOTHING (would have never worked with DH's teratospermia. It's a serious enough problem with DH that we have to do ICSI with the IVF), my FSH has gone from good to fair in less than a year. HE MAY HAVE COST US OUR CHANCE TO HAVE OUR OWN CHILD WITH MY DNA because of the deleterious impact of so many failed rounds of Repronex. We are currently in an IVF cycle and it might be cancelled because there's just not many follies left to stimulate and we might have to move on to DE.
Why? All this cuz he (or he'll hide behind "It's not Kaiser SOP") couldn't/wouldn't do a freaking $200 semen analysis on DH.

Run from him if you want more than just some silver fox eye candy.
