We've decided rather than keeping both of Sam's given names, to keep his given first name and his family name as middle names. According to the informtion we received today, he sounds like a happy, healthy baby. He does have some dermatitis on his face. They make a big deal about his low weight and height, but honestly it just doesn't seem all that low to me (8 month checkup - alomst 26 inches, 15.4 pounds.. everything is written in kg and cm, so those are the rounded out conversions). Of course, my thoughts are if the child wasn't eating hot chocolate and bread for breakfast and the same cream of vegetable soup with chicken and rice for lunch AND dinner ever single day.. maybe he'd grow some more! He is said to be a playful baby who enjoys playing with children or adults. He cries when he is left alone to sit or when he meets new adults. He warms up to adults quickly and is then content to be carried or played with. They say he is very gentle and smiles a lot, but demands a lot of attention! No picture yet, they tried to fax one but it came out so dark you can't really see him. We should have one Friday or Monday.

Oh my! I'm having tingles just thinking of him. His name is gorgeous...I just love it!
I remember those days just after our referral when everything was running through my mind and I couldn't get Emily out of thought (not that I wanted to, believe me!)!!
How very exciting! I think the same as you--his size sounds just fine to me. And once he's home with his forever family he'll blossom and grow like there's no tomorrow!

Name update: A friend who lives in Colombia informed us that Juan is never used as a second name in Spanish, only a first name.. so his middle name is now being debated again! :o

He is BEAUTIFUL. I am so happy for you. I was on this board for a while unitl our adoption seemed to fail (but if finally came through) - anyway, I check back every now and then to check on you. I am soooooo happy for you. Your life will never be the same.
