i just made an appointment w/a new internal medicine doctor in san francisco. she has a unique care delivery paradigm and i am really excited about going to see her.
first of all, she doesn't have any office staff. if you need to get in touch w/her, you just leave a message. when she called me back today, we spent a good long time on the phone discussing my various ailments (at least 10 mins). she says that she likes to focus on her patients and listen to their needs- most office visits last for approximately one hour.
the only downside is that she doesn't deal with insurance, so if you submit the claim to your insurance company, you will be billed at the "out-of-network" rate. however, i think i would rather pay a little bit extra for excellent care than my normal co-pay for average care.
