I started taking Saw Palmetto the end of July as I saw that it could help decrease the amount of hair I was losing.
What ended up happening is I've had my period at the same time in August, September, and October. I normally go 5 months without a period, so this is a miracle!
I don't know what my hormone levels were when they tested me and diagnosed me, so this may not work for others, or a higher dose may be needed. I've also been warned that this should be treated as a hormone replacement therapy, as it's obviously had an effect on my testosterone. You should research this on your own and see if it's a good fit for you. I've tried other suggested herbals and remedies, but this is the only one that's worked for me.
This has been a life saver to me and I wanted to share with others. I've noticed that my hairloss has diminished greatly. I'm just not sure about being on this and getting pregnant, as it said it shouldn't be taken while pregnant.
I started out taking two 280mg softgels. After about 3 weeks I ordered a different kind because it was much cheaper online that are 540mg from nutraceutical sciences institute. I take one capsule in the morning with breakfast. If I forget some mornings I'll take two the next day, but I've been pretty steady with remembering every morning.
I also had ordered saw palmetto shampoo and use that in my hair with my regular conditioner. I really don't know if the shampoo has had any affect, but I'm almost out and don't think I'm going to reorder it. It does smell good though.
