Question Saw Palmetto = AF every day for a month?

Okay, so I was taking Saw Palmetto faithfully during the month of October, and while I was on it, I bled lightly every day. The first day or two were very heavy, and then it was just light but constant. Also, I felt very tired all the time. Anyone else have this problem?

Since I haven't been *officially* diagnosed with PCOS (but have all the big symptoms: hirsutism, irregular and absent periods, apple-shaped weight probs, skin tags, etc) I then decided maybe I shouldn't be taking it or anything. So after a month, I stopped taking SP.

However, I am pretty darn sure I have PCOS (and it seems, also, that I am more than likely IR.) I don't currently have any insurance, so it looks like an official dx is in the distant future. But I want to feel like I"m doing something to help myself right now. I've been trying to eat more based on the Insulin Resistance Diet (and it makes me physically feel a lot better when I do) and I am considering starting the Saw Palmetto again, regardless of the weird side effects.

What do you all think?

Autumn! Glad you decided to join I just started taking SP and Primrose oil myself. Maybe the SP just didnt' agree with you?

Have you tried any flax oil (not the capsules, they're not nearly as effective as the raw oil) or Primrose oil? From what I understand they do a pretty good job of blocking bad hormones and evening out our hormones in general.

Of course I'm basing all this on what little I know about SP and Primrose

Default primrose and flax oils

Thanks I love this site...it's so helpful and everyone seems so nice.

I haven't really heard much about Primrose oil...I just see the name on this site once in a while. What is it? What's it for?

As for flax oil...no, I don't take that, but I *do* have a big jar of ground flax *seed*...would that be along the same lines? Or is the oil better/more concentrated?

Nice talking to you again...how's the IRD going for you? I was doing quite well for about a week or two (which is the longest I've maintained any healthy eating for a long time now) but the holidays came and I just threw caution to the wind I guess. I'm getting back on track today.
