I really don't know anyone or heard of anyone that has actually stated that saw palmetto has completely stopped their hair loss.
I also don't know any studies (that are real and credible) that were done on women who have PCOS who have taken saw palmetto and showed marked improvement in their symptoms........
........so my question is, why is saw palmetto getting all this attention ???
I think it's been an aid to my regime, but I wouldn't say it's a "cure".
I think no matter what you do, go natural, go herbal or both, most people need a combination of things to help them out.
I think I may have been able to at least slow my hair loss, but it's been a combination of mutliple factors. Some may or may not be playing into it, but I'm not taking any chances at this point by removing anything!
I've been on saw palmetto for about two years and I definitely think it helped with hair loss and hirsutism.
Unfortunately, I also just had a breast specialist tell me it was the source of some chronic breast pain so I am going to have to discontinue it.
One thing I know for sure about PCOS is that no one seems to know, for absolutely sure, what helps and what doesn't. I felt for the last two years I had my symptoms controlled and my hormones in good balance and now I am back to square one.
I think it's really individual and people have to figure out what works for them.

Yes I wouldn't say it's a cure either, but when people, (mostly holistic doctors) make claims that it's supposed to help with hirsutism and hair loss and there are no actual credible studies available then what is one to believe ?
For sure it's a combination of things, sometimes you end up taking so many things you don't know what's working and what isn't ! lol......

Yeah, I agree, because each person's situation is so different it is difficult to figure out what works and what doesn't.
Did you have your testosterone checked though while you were on saw palmetto to see if it actually lowered it or not ?
I tried Saw Palmetto and it hasn't helped with my hirsutism. In fact it's made it worse! I tried two different kinds (I think there a pills made with saw palmetto flowers and others with extracts). I tried both and it was not good. So I have these 2 containers and I dont know what to do with them.
But I'm wondering if it works best with another herb. I am on vitex and dong quai right now to get AF started. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to add saw palmetto.
