saw palmetto & nursing HELP!!

I've looked this up all over the place on the net. Half of the sites say it's safe to take Saw Palmetto while nursing, others say it's unknown or don't do it due to hormonal effects. I'm nursing a boy, I don't want to stunt his penis growth or anything, is that what they mean? Has anyone asked a doctor if this is safe? My pediatrician doesn't know about herbs.

I am getting desperate, my temples hardly have any hair, I can't pull my hair back anymore in a barrette out of embarrassment and I keep cutting my bangs weird to hide it.

Saw Palmetto is an antiandrogen, and if you're nursing a boy, then it could lower his testosterone levels. I would stop using it ASAP.

Probably not the greatest idea to take it. Have you been taking it? DId you take it while pregnant, did it have any effect on the baby? It's not quite clear to me if you are wondering if you can take it or if you should stop it.

As an aside, regarding the temples - look on the bright side - weirdly cut bangs can hide it. I hid my temple thinness for years that way. Now I'm going thin in the middle of my head so I have to grow out my bangs to hide that!
