Default saw palmetto Q

Does saw palmetto work good for hair loss ? I have been losing my hair since I was 15 years old. Now its really bad, it falls like crazy. I used to have very thick hair but now its thin in some places. I am so worried that soon it will all be gone !!

Saw Palmetto worked for me with my hair loss. I'm like you, I used to have sorta thick hair and I've been slowly loosing it since I was a teenager. But now that I'm in my mid twenties, it has gotten a LOT worse! I started taking the herb and noticed a huge difference in how many strands I was loosing. Try it, it can't hurt! The herb is suppose to be a big DHT inhibiter!

taking vitamin B6 is suppose to be really good for fighting hirsutism. It most likely won't make your hair go away but it could help prevent the growth pattern from spreading. The best way in my opinion to fight hair growth is to try and balance your hormones with natural herbs like Vitex, Dong Quai and take a good mulit vitamin.

My advice would be to go to the alternative remedies forum, and do a search on vitex, natural progesterone cream, and you'll find all kinds of good info on what has worked for other women. Other vitamins that are suppose to be good for fighting hirsutism are chromium, vitamin E, magnesium and zinc but I believe that taking these in the form of a multi vitamin would be the best way to go for balance. I hope this helps you a little sorry I couldn't help anymore than that.

MonikaM,

I noticed from your sig that you are ttc.

If you plan to use saw palmetto I would heed the advice of Ajani, who wrote the following in an earlier posting regarding Saw Palmetto & TTC:

"If you are ovulating, and TTC, I recommend that you stop the SP once you O. It is not safe to take during pregnancy (and hence, it shouldn't be taken during the 2ww)."

Take care,
NJCyster

Thanks ladies !!

I will give it a try. And I will stop in the 2ww, no point of adding any extra risks !
