Ive heard a few people talking about Saw Palmetto, could you tell me what it is and what it helps with?

it's thought to reduce the dht (free testosterone) in the system, which is the thing that aids hairloss, and so many women take it to prevent/stop hairloss and to stop hair growth in other places.
if you do a search for 'saw palmetto' you'll see loads of threads for it :)
it's normally used on men for prostate problems - it was discovered that many men who took it saw hair growth on their heads.
i take one in the morning and one last thing at night - the majority of testosterone is made during the hours 12 midnight to 8am, so taking it at this time will help reduce the dht in the system.
if you're going to get it then make sure you get the standardised version - which basically means that it has enough of what you need; the gnc shops have standardised saw palmetto.

Sorry for all the questions but I found Saw palmetto today at my local health shop, I did'nt buy any as Im confused (does'nt take much)
They had it in 400mg and 320mg??? which one do I need?
also whats this Standardised thing!!:o

lynn, hi, sorry i've not written back (lots on my plate at this end..)
i'm taking the 320mg bottle, twice a day. once in the morning and once last thing at night. some people take the 160mg version - not sure if that's a stronger concentration or not, but i might try that one next.
i think standardised means that you're getting the right bit of the plant. can't remember which bit that is, but when it's standardised you know you're getting the right stuff.
