Default Saw Palmetto and testosterone levels

I'm currently trying the GI diet and exercise plan and hoping that it improves all of the symptoms. My blood pressue is still slightly elevated and the doc doesn't want to put me on the pill yet. I'd like to try some alterative thearpies for my thinning hair. I was wondering if Saw Palmetto would be something I should try. Can anyone eplain how it works? I have normal testosterone levels. Mine was 56 I think. Does it decrease your testosterone. I don't want to screw up my hormone levels. I am also taking biotin and a prenatal vitiman daily as well as fish oil. I use Nisim shapoo and conditioner and have tried several others for thinning hair. Is there anything else that works to help stop the hair loss? Right now it is my main concern.
