I have a question (May be TMI)...BUT I really need some answers. I have developed this painful and very itchy rash on my butt. Right at the top. Where the crack stops at the top. It hurts really bad. I cannot sit on that part of my butt because it hurts so bad. It does have pus in it also. I thought that it might have just been from moisture and heat or something. Also thought it could be scabies. I just dont know......any of you ever had this? What should I do to help it??
Thanks.
April

I had scabies once. (Man, I'm so embarrassed to admit that) but I got them from the wrestling mats in high school. (I was the taper---taped ankles, wrists, etc.) They were on my hands, they looked like little red blister thingies. Then I started noticing them in my crotch area and on the inside of my thighs. That's when I went to the Dr, I was so scared thinking I had an STD or something. BUT, she said they were just scabies. She told me to get some antibacterial soap and scrub with a loofa as hard as I could for 3 days. They went away and I never got them again.
Okay, anyway.....I kind of went off on a tanget there----but in my experience they didn't HURT, they were just really REALLY REALLY itchy. They did pus a bit, though, so I don't know. I suppose it could be like a diaper rash or even a yeast infection, you may want to go to the doc to check it out. Otherwise, if you don't want to go to the doc, I would clean it really good and put some baby powder or some other moisture-absorbing powder on it and see if that helps. Good Luck!
That was what I was going to do tonight when I got home. After my shower I am planning on putting some baby powder on it. I hope it works. If it is scabies, I have absolutely no idea where I could have gotten it. Especially where I have it. If a doctor told me to scrub this really hard with a loofah, I'd probably hit them! LOL JUST KIDDING. It would hurt WAY too bad to scrub this. I can barely take anything barely touching it. Like my pants. I am going to doctor it up a little and wait a few days to see if it goes away. Thanks again!

You could be having a reaction to the fabric.
I have had something simular(not as bad as you) but it was my pants rubbing me raw. I found the stitching had a thicker "fishline"stitch that started it off. I'm not sure if that is what my skin was reacting to or not. But it only happened the first month of waring certain types of pants/material.
If it is itching here are some other things to try...
Antibaterial ointment w/pain relief
or
Lotrimin(antifungal oil/lotion)Many types available.
or
Clean it with hydrogen peroxide and then add the antibiotic cream.
or
Try yeast creme.(monistat or like product)
or
Bag balm(green can) works for lots of things, includding "diaper rash",yes even adults get "diaper rashes". Everyone(especially Moms) should have this on hand.
Try to keep it clean, dry and avoid fabric that irritates it.
If you have to, cover it with large bandages so your pants don't "rub" it.
If you don't start having relief in 2 days, you need to see a doctor for proper care. It is easy to have this go into something worse.(infection)

Patty. It is not my pants. I haven't bought any new pants in quite a while. I really dont know what it is. I have found that if I keep myself from scratching it (which isnt very easy) it isnt painful. I believe the pain is just from me scratching it. But it still itches like crazy. It looks like a bunch of little scabs now that I havent been scratching it.

If it were scabies then "Scrubbing" it would feel SOOO good!!! So it may not be scabies. You cant just go see a doctor or go to the local health Dept?
I can't tell you where I got mine. I think it was in my brother's house they had so many pets you are able to get them from animals. Who knows but when I went to the doctor she told me it may have been a new detergent, soap, and I hadn't changed anything. Went back and saw a different doctor and he right away stuck a needle in one of the bumps (and yes it felt good) stuck it under the microscope and said YEP just what I thought scabies, now I had never heard of it before but he gave me lotion and they were gone within days, only to use a brush I had used to scratch myself and got re-infected a week later boy was I mad!! After 3 weeks they were all gone!! Now I just be careful around pets! It was the most horrible feeling in the world you can start bleeding after a while but I tell ya it feels so good because it itches SOOOOOOOOOOOO bad!! Good luck!

I had a fungal infection under my breast, where the skin folds over on itself. it itched bad! but i itched it to the point of blood and then it hurt when my bra touched it. I went to the doc & she gave me a cream that cleared it up. I don't know if and athlete's foot/antifungal powder might have worked w/o the doctor appointment. It never occured to me to try that.

I had horrible hives like you described a few months ago, it turned out to be an allergy to dust mites. Some of the hives got infected -- yay -- and unfortunately spread to my surgical incision when I had my hysterectomy. They started on my butt and thighs, and eventually spread everywhere. To get rid of them, I just had to get tough on keeping my bed linens spotlessly clean (I wash them in HOT water every few days and change my sheets that often instead of once a week) and take care of the existing hives with antibiotics and a cream my doc prescribed.
I still have a few of the hives that just aren't healing -- most of them are, of course, on my butt, where they get pressure from my clothing or sitting down. I have so many band-aids on my rear, I look like I'm polka-dotted!
Good luck with your problems, and I second the suggestion to see your doc or a dermatologist. If I had taken care of my hives right away, I would not have ended up with them getting infected and then infecting my surgical site -- it was pseudomonas and staph, so it was pretty ugly there for a while.
