I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16 years old. Since that very day, I had been on birth control until late October when I stopped taking it. I didn't have a period at all from October to January. Throughout the years, I had many doctors say that that I wouldn't know for sure if I had PCOS until I tried to get pregnant. Well, I'm 25 now and very unexpectedly got pregnant. I'm 5 1/2 weeks and scared to death. I had my first ultrasound yesterday and my doctor noticed that I did have cysts on my ovaries, but also that it was possible that I had an ectopic pregnancy in my ovary (she said it was either that or artifact from a cyst that burst when the egg fertilized). I do have a pregnancy in my uterus as well, but I'm afraid that because I have PCOS, I won't be able to carry this pregnancy and miscarry. What kind of odds to I have. I've read that studies show the rate of me miscarrying is almost half, but since I conceived on my own, does that go down at all?
I am not sure about rates and things like that. I think it is great that you got pg on your own. When you get pg, you do have a corpus luterm (sp) cyst on you ovary where the egg came from. I have never heard of an ectopic in your ovary?
I have been pg 4 times, and m/c 2 times. But there are many women on here who have not m/c.
Are you scheduled for another u/s soon? The chance of m/c goes way way down once you see a heart beat. Which is usually after 6 or 7 weeks. Unless you have a reason to worry, then don't. The last thing you need to be doing is stressing out. Your PG, enjoy!
she's right -- also stress is the last thing you need. i believe if you think positive and stay relaxed, that will do a world of good and you'll be just fine. plus, i know all these cysters will say a prayer or at least keep you in their thoughts! welcome.

I went to the doctor yesterday and had another ultrasound done and they said that whatever is in my ovary is just a cyst...not an ectopic pregnancy! I don't think I've ever been so happy to hear that I have a cyst. The doctor also put my fears at ease about my uterine pregnancy and told me there wasn't anything to worry about with that. She said it was still too early to see a heartbeat, so I'm going back again next week for another ultrasound for a heartbeat! Thanks for everyone's support. Things in my life are crazy and stressful right now, but it makes it easier to know that there are other people out there who have [some of] my same fears!
i hope all goes well for you! i'll be praying for you!!

I don't have statistics for you, but I know that I got pregnant unexpectedly and now my daughter is 6 months old! So it happens. Good luck to you and congrats!
try not to worry i have had pcos for years and years although i only plucked up the courage last august to get tested for it..... but before all that i had no trouble conceiving my twin boys when i was 22 and carried them fine had a prem labour but then between the 2 of them they did make about 8lb so i think they run out of room, lots of women with pcos have babies and dont miscarry and lots of women who do not have pcos miscarry, try not to worry about it though statistics can be frightening, but how many women out there have pcos and dont know it!!! these are just stats.... dont read them and concentrate on being healthy eating healthy and being happy.

Well ladies, I went to the doctor today and saw my little one's heartbeat, so everything seems fine for now. I was also told that the cyst on my ovary was not getting any bigger and that was a very good sign. It looks like everything is going well. My doctor said she does want to keep monitoring my ovaries because there are more cysts on there that she doesn't want to rupture, causing me more pain. So, I guess it'll just be a waiting game until the baby is born. Thanks for all of your support and prayers!
AW brilliant well i hope u have a healthy and happy nine months...exciting aye..
