About a month ago I was given a tentative diagnosis of PCOS with high insulin levels. My doctor recomended taking me in to surgery. They are going to put a camera into my uterus to look at it and then to look at my overies. Then they are going to go in laperscopicly in my adboman to make sure I don't have endometriosis. I am really scared. I have never had surgery before in my life and I really don't know what to expect. Do I need to take a week off from work or can I go back the next day. Should I expect a lot of vaginal pain or bleeding? If anyone has gone through this type of surgery, please let me know. I just need a little support.
I have been through the surgery & I had an ovarian wedge resection--which is considered old school, but worked!. (I also have endometriosis). I would love to talk to you & go into detail about my experiences. I will tell you I was out of work for 4 months, but everybody's body heals differently. PLEASE do not rush back to work the next day! If they make incisions around ur stomach & belly button to look around in your abdomen, you will not be on your feet so quickly! But most are 1 day outpatient surgeries.
Anyway, I was SUPER FRIGHTENED b/c right b4, they gave me the anesthesia, my dr. came out w/ a form saying ck here to remove, a, b, or c if necessary. So I would love to help u with some things I wish someone would've told me.
Okay....one last thing. Never let them perform a hysterectomy. I told my dr 5 times, whatever u do, I still want to have children. You can always get the results from the laparoscopy & then have a hysterectomy later. Cuz once it's gone it's gone! Check out my info. on my page about my surgery...

So, I went to the doctor again today. I really do think they are trying to take all my blood! I have been to the doctor every week for the past month, and every time I am there, the draw blood. Anyway, they answered a lot of my questions. I am still really scared. I actually got to crying on the doctor. Which I hate doing. Thanks for your reply Sister GBO!
Hey, I'm anemic, so I know what you mean... I actually cried last night myself! lol... Keep me posted on what's going on. When is your surgery scheduled for, and did they tell you exactly what they would be doing? Don't know if you're religious, but I will keep you in my prayers anyway.
IDK if you've ever had surgery before, but always make sure you make preparations to be in the hospital at least a few days. Mine was 1 day outpatient, but I ended in there a week. I was running a fever (amongst other things). They sometimes won't release you if your temperature stays consistently hight after an operation. I just wish I had already packed my overnight bag. lol Instead I kept having to send my sis back & forth getting my things as I remembered them.
But I'm sure you will be just fine!I can remember taking longer than normal to heal & wishing I had someone to talk to who had gone through it already. (But didnt'). So seriously if you need to reach out, feel free to email me or whatever, if I'm not online. I'm sure some other soulcysters have had this surgery too!

The surgery is Dec 1st, a week and 1 day. AHHHH. They told me at the doc that I need to take a week off from work. I can't decide how to tell my boss. They were not to keen on the fact that I had to take off one day. I had told her that I would need Dec 1st off, and maybe the next day, but the doc said that they want me off my feet for a week. And working as a vet assistant that would be kind of hard if I went back to work the next day.
Thanks for the prayers. Any and all are much appreciated.
My experience wasn't too bad. I had the same surgery late in the week (on a Thursday, I think). I was off on Friday and had the weekend to recover. I was sore for another week or so; tight pants are NOT your friend. But other than that, it wasn't too bad. And remember, if it helps, it's worth it.
I spoke with my boss today. They agreed to let me take the whole week off (with out pay). One of my co-workers was very upset that he would have to fill in for me on Wednesday, but he will get over it. He always does.
Thanks ladies for your words of wisdom. They have really helped me out a lot. I am not as scared now.
Hey guys. As some of you know, I work in a vet's office as a vet assistant. Yesterday, we were doing a spay on a cat. We opened her up, and guess what! She had PCOS! I just started laughing, and the doctor was like what? I said that is exactly want I am having surgery for on Monday!
I just thought that you guys would find that interesting.

If you don't mind me asking who is/are your doctors? When you mentioned the surgery, it reminded me of something from C.A.R.S in Johnson City (which is a group I would NEVER recommend to anyone). I've never had the procedures done, but for someone who's just been diagnosed it sounds a little invasive right off the bat-- I know your surgery is on monday-- I just read this and it concerned me a little. No matter what, I wish you the best-- and do keep us posted.

The doc is Dr. Michael Doody. He is great! IF anyone in Knoxville is going trough the same thing, please go to him. He has helped me out so much.
Anyway, surgery was today, and I am doing very well. I scared me a little bit when I could not catch my breath after they pulled the tube, but I did ok. I am in a little bit of pain now, but just took some oxycodone.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Hope all is well with you guys.
Hi!
I'm so glad ur doing well, espec. well enough 2 type!
Please let me know what they did when u have time. I'm sure after oxycodone u are either staring in space...or floating away! J/k
Make sure u get plenty of rest & take care of urself!

They done a DNC and then took care of the endrometriosis that I had. I was feeling great until I found out that I am allergic to Oxycodone! My face broke out and I was itchy all over. So they have me one something diffrent. All is well now!
