Default Scared, Bleeding for a month

Hey ladies, has anyone else delt with this at all? I have had 1 other episode. I have been on my period for a month now. Mostly now it is just spotting with some clots every now and then. I went for a check up yesterday and they sent me for a pelvic Ultrasound. My results have not came back yet. Just my bloodwork and it was all fine. I have not had any treatment for PCOS in probably 3 years. All I have had is my yearly exam. So I am pretty worried. I have yet to concieve #1. They are talking about putting on BCP for a while if the Ultrasound is ok, which is fine. No biggie. Any idea what might be causing the bleeding? Anyone else have this happen? I am so freaked out. I hate the waiting!!!

I am going to have a lap done next month (to remove an ovary w/cyst) and to check for uterine fibroid. I start spotting off and on on CD19 until I start on CD28th. Anyway, she suspects a fibroid.

I had a month-long period, but I had gone for 14 months without a period.

Well like I said. They did blood work and a Complete pelvic sonogram. The sonogram results should be in tomorrow. The blood work was ok. I did have a 1 similar episode back in March where I did like the other person and had a complete, actual period. This time it is more spotting. Since the 1st episode, my periods have been great....up until this one. I always tend to think the worst....I cant help it. Thanks for the replys. They really help alot!!!

I get this all the time. My last episode lasted for 7 weeks. If it keeps going they can put you on progesterone to stop it. The first round of 15 days didn't work for me, but then I passed a huge clot and they did another round of 5 days and that worked. I still don't know what caused it. I wish you luck in finding out what's going on. It is really annoying to have a period that long.

2 yrs. ago I bled for 2 months straight! Yes, you read it right...2 months and I don't just mean spotting, it was full on period and then in the 2nd month it was severe hemorraging. I went to the DR like every other day and they couldn't figure out what was going on. I finally ended up having to undergo a D&C to stop the bleeding. Thankfully it has never happened since...the DR finally said they think that since I hadn't had my period for 3 months before that the lining in my uterus just built up to the point where it finally couldn't hang on any longer and so it all just shed at once. It was so incredibly scary, I can definitely sympathize with being scared!

However, since you are just mostly spotting I wouldn't worry about it too much. Your DR is on the right track doing all the tests you mentioned. I wish you the best of health!

:Hugs Melissa:

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I used to have terrible cycles before my PCOS diagnosis, I would skip periods for months and then bleed (heavily) for a month or two at a time. Metformin helped me the most. I am taking cinnamon now and I have noticed an improvement in my periods from that.

Hope you feel better soon hun, let us know what your u/s results are!

Hugs
Jenny

That's very normal for me to bleed for 1+ month. Usually any time I get stressed out.
I had a full on heavy period for 3 months leading up to my wedding in 2003. All the doc could tell me was sometimes that just happens (yeah, that's the same doc that said "the pill works great for you. You're not pregnant" my response was, "that's not why I'm taking the pill, remember? You put me on it to regulate my periods, or did you forget that? Also, ummm, no kidding I'm not pregnant, I don't ovulate. Or did you forget that too?" needless to say, I don't see that doc anymore). Talk about a stressful situation! I thought I was going to have to wear a mattress under my wedding dress! lol. Thankfully 3 days before the ceremony I stopped bleeding.
