Points: 259.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 259.00 | scared and depressed newbie Hello everyone. I was officially dx today with a "mild" form of PCOS. Doc told me that BCP's were the only treatment and when we wanted to have a baby I would need a fertility drug. I am heartbroken. Some part of me has always known that I am infertile but there was always a quiet hope within my soul that I would achieve my dream of being a mother. I know there are a lot of options out there. A lot of expensive options. It seems so easy for people who don't want children to get pregnant, does'nt it? It's so not fair.

Second, being diagnosed with PCOS is not an easy thing. A lot of us here can remember when we first got our diagnosis. For me it was a huge shock... I was scared and nervous about what it meant. Its perfectly ok to feel those emotions. But with time, it will get easier. You learn to live with what's happening to you and with education (you're at the right site for that!) you'll learn how to treat the symptoms. It will be ok.
Just because you have PCOS doesn't mean you can't get PG. I'm not TTC so I can't answer any questions regarding that, but I would recommend you pop in at the Trying to Conceive section here at SC. Those ladies have been thru it all and can probably answer any questions you have!

I completely understand your emotions right now. It is a huge relief to find a name for what's been plaguing you for so long, but along with that comes a wealth of other emotions...denial, grief, anger, depression, worry, you name it...and it's all COMPLETELY normal! You are not alone. Remember that, no matter what you may be feeling at any given time, one or more of us have felt it or are feeling it right along with you! We are always here for one another. No matter what.
As for your doc telling you that BCP'S are the 'only' treatment, that's wrong. Metformin has helped many of us lose weight, regulate our hormones, and regulate our cycles. Please, check out information on metformin and if you need to, find another doctor or reproductive endocrinologist that will do further testing and treat you the way you feel you deserve to be treated. We've all been through it! Some women have been able to get pg on metformin alone, some of us need further help ie clomid, injectibles, etc. There is hope though. Just don't give up. It might be that if you get your hormones and cycles regulated with met, you won't have to do fertility drugs when you decide it's time to ttc.
Just remember, this site has a wealth of information and support for you, and we're all here for you when you need us!!!
