Default Scarring on neck - due to plucking.

Anyone else have this problem?

I am so self conscious because of it - If it's not red bumps (that never go away) it's dark hairs. Is there anything I can do about this?

Are you still plucking? If so, those red bumps are going to keep coming back. You're dealing with very sensitive skin. It's even a very sensitive area to shave and shaving is the least irritant way of dealing with it. I only shave the front of my neck very occaisionally.

I meant I am really sorry! That sounded kinda snooty as you can't read emotions. I hope you don't take as "you just have to deal with it" because that is not how I meant it. Geez, I am sorry!

I didn't take your comment as being snooty, Shana!

I was thinking of trying Mederma to see if that helps or not - I was just curious if anyone else here has the same problem.

Thanks for the responses!

Shaving doesn't make it grow any more because it doesn't affect the root. The main objection to shaving anywhere around the face is that many people think of it as a very "masculine" thing to do. That aside, I reckon that it's the most trouble-free and reliable way of removing unwanted hair growth.

You may have folliculitus caused by plucking. My dermatologist prescribes an antibiotic gel to use in the area. I am having laser treatments, so I'm not plucking anymore except the pure white hairs that laser doesn't get. I have quite a few of those that are thick, and it seems to be the thick ones that cause the red bumps. I just can't stand the feel of them if I shave, so I keep plucking. I've had 5 laser treatments and alot of the redness has faded. After my laser treatments, I'm going to try electrolysis on the white hair. I know I'll have to stop plucking, but I won't have to endure them for 8 weeks between treatments like I do with the laser.

I have those bumps, too. They are more annoying than the hair itself.
What is Mederma? I am from Europe and we don't have the same products here as in the USA. Do you know what substances it contains?

Oh I have awful scarring on my neck. I also have all these broken capillaries and to top it off I have a very fair complexion, which makes the hair and the scarring show even worse. All my dark, coarse hair is on my neck, except for the rest of my body which looks like a yeti . It's awful because I get ingrown hairs there all the time and they bug the crap out of me so I go after them with safety pins or needles. I know that's gross, but if I don't then I get a HUGE red bump where the ingrown hair is. Right now I'm trying to exfoliate my neck about once a week with apricot scrub in the hopes that it will discourage ingrowns. So far it's working. I'm also a chronic picker, so I try to pluck before the hairs have fully grown back in. I just want to roast under a full-body laser hair remover so I don't have to deal with this anymore. I've been plucking since I was about 11 so I'm so sick of it.
