Default Scottsdale, Arizona - PCOS/Blood Disoder

I am new here but I wanted to recommend my doctor. I went to the "best infertility clinic in Arizona" and was very unhappy there. They gave me a similar protocol as anyone else for IVF and I hyperstimulated (very painful but didn't need hospital time). I went to Dr. Couvaras at IVF Phoenix at a friend's referral and got pregnant the first time with an IUI! He had me on a variety of drugs, mostly natural and hormones needed for medicated IUI. He also had me on Heparin. Evidently, those of us with PCOS also tend to have "gummy blood", meaning it doesn't flow freely. I was on a low carb diet (under 120) and Metformin as well. Although Dr. Couvaras is somewhat experimental and thinks "outside the box", I think that is what we need because of the inability to figure PCOS out. Loved him and I would travel across country to see him if I needed to!

I"m seeing Dr Craig at Fertility Treatment Centers. Just curious, was this the office you were unhappy with?

Default Hi!

Yes, I was referred by my GYN and family friend. I did a IVF cycle with Dr. Craig. I was very unhappy with my treatment and the demeaner of his employees (I did love his nurses though). I just question their understanding of PCOS and their protocol. I think PCOS women should be treated with 'kid gloves' and they should use a protocol that keeps you from hyperstimulating (which I did).

I just felt that Dr. Couvaras understands PCOS, as much as anyone can, and he treated me accordingly. I have referred a number of women to him and the one that I know has gone to him after trying for 10 years (unsuccessfully), is finally pregnant her first IVF with him (twins!).

Edit: I just read you are mid treatment with them. I know many women are happy with him and his staff and they do get a lot of women pregnant. Don't let my experience discourage you...I wish you all the luck in the world and pray for your success!
