I've been trying to search for several things on the board (for example, NPC and schwarzbein) and I get an error msg that the terms are too short, long, or common to be included.
I know that's pretty common on many boards, but I really am getting frustrated. I hate to repost something that's already been discussed, but I can't find the information I need!
Any tips for getting around this? Many times I try to substitute synonyms, which works sometimes, but the problem is frequently that we use so many short acronyms that aren't search-able (like NPC, ttc, etc). And I was shocked that schwarzbein was too long!
I am going to try a google site search in a minute, but sometimes those are a waste of time. Any suggestions or insider secrets for me?

Eva is correct...but I also like the google site search. If Google can't find it on the site, it can't be found. Just GoogleSS it, and click 'highlight' to find the word you're using.
It's also sometimes better to limit your 'board search' to one or two specific forums - rather than the entire site. (ie Swarzbein posts will probabaly be more plentifiul in the Diet&Exercise, Food Reviews, or Diet Buddies forums - no need to search the entire board)
