Default Seasonal Affect Disorder( SAD)

I was wondering if anyone here has SAD, and if/how they were treated. I went to my DR yesterday and he prescribed Zoloft. I have been telling everyone how I just want to hibernate in the winter, and have gained 8 lb. since Oct, because I don't want to do anything. I started NPC last week and hopefully everything will start working itself out. (fingers-crossed)
I have heard some good things from this board about it, but I was just curious about others experiences. If anyone has some good research on this please pass it on.
Thanks & take care,
Cheryl

I read somewhere that there is an electric light you can buy to help. It simulates sunshine. Also, try to sit in the sunshine by a window if possible. I go through it, too. I wake with the sunshine and I don't feel good until it does. Good luck. If you find something that works, please update us. In the meantime, Spring is on the way...I hope. Hugs, Lendi

Default I know how you are feeling!

I have been having the same problem, I have no drive at all on one hand then I go through periods when I am bouncing off the wall becasue I am so bored. With being out of work and all I am finding it tough. I know that I was up at 6am today and I noticed the sun was comming up. Big change from the sun rising at 8 am!!

I think Spring is comming, so hang in there and Good Luck on Zoloft!!

Thanks for the replys!
I have been thinking about ordering a sunlight, and finally broke down and did it. I found one on sale for $199. If it works like they say it does, it will certainly be worth the money, but I hope I'm not another sucker spending $ on a dream!!! But anyway, I'll let you ladies know how it works. I have to do something. Wasting half a year wallowing in self despair isn't an option any longer!!!

Please let us know if/how it works. I live in Ohio too and this long, cold, snowy winter is getting the best of me.
