Also- has any heard of using a tanning bed to relieve SAD or has used a tanning bed to relieve their symptoms??
I use a tanning bed( I know I could get cancer) almost all year, but I especially use it in the winter months ( I live in Pittsburgh) and I think it helps me, because I know if I skip a day of tanning I feel crappy and not want to do anything....

I was only diagnosed last summer and kind of put it on the back burner with University, just started with Nuvaring and that was it. Now we're trying to start a family and everything is so overwhelming!!!

Depending on where you live, a SAD lamp (which, by the way, you can get at Costco) may not be enough! Taking Vitamin D and calcium supplements in addition to using your lamp for daily light treament has a far greater impact than using the lightbox alone.
One of the added benefits of this regime is that you might lose weight! I mysteriously lost fiften pounds last winter; after reviewing my diet and exercise schedule, I realized that the only thing I was doing differently was the SAD lamp/Vitamin D/Calcium regime.

I asked my Doc about it, and she said doesn't help, but that is just 1 opinion, maybe I will just move to Florida!! Seriously though, can it help everyone with the winter blues, lower energy, etc?

By my doctors orders...I have to get out when it's sunny and take a walk...even if it's cold. If there is no sun...I have to use a light box....and exercise everyday...to bring my endorphins up and serotonin levels up as well. I must stay away from sugar and all white foods(white bread, rice, etc.). It does help...
