I was wondering if any of you have tried Seasonall (SP??)? The BCP where you take three months of active pills consecutively, to only get a period once every three months. I've been on Yasmin for awhile and everything is working fine...but I just think it would be more convenient to have fewer periods.
The only thing that concerns me, is that I heard Yasmin is sorta better for women with blood pressure issues (which I have, as well as heart & lung issues brought on by my hypertension....so BP is really critical to me). I have a gyn appointment on valentines day (how sweet!) and I do plan on asking what he thinks....but I know there are some extremely smart people on here, with lotsa information. Just thought I'd ask and thanks for any advice!!!

Lil backround - - I have been on what I feel is every pill on the market... Yasmin & nuva ring were by far my worst as far as mood swings wieght gain.. basically I became a dr.jeckle mr. hyde beast... I have also been on the ortho's, allesse, and Lo ovral none of which helped any of my symptoms...
My RE put me on Seasonal because on top of PCOS, IR & Heart disease I have Endometriosis. So its better for me not to have a period at all & the patch was just taken off the counter at the time... The first cycle (which I cut a month short) was not so great. If you miss a pill or don't take this pill the SAME time EVERY day you will bleed... They actually took the Seasonal commercials off the tv because what they were promising only 4 periods a year was becoming fraudulant. Anyhu, I thought I was doing something wrong as I bled for 3 1/2 weeks straight - I don't know about you but thats pretty annoying to me... Oh the other concern I had was that when I stopped the first "cycle" I didn't get my period which like the other pills had come on 2 days after taking them. So I am giving the pills another go I'm 2 weeks into the next 3 month pack and have been religiously taking this pills the same time every night so far so good
As far as my moods are concerned well I never felt better.. My acne is great (that may be from the Evening primrose oil though) ... the wieght well i did gain some from this pill but nothing too too unmanagable...
Here is a website that has helped me A LOT -- Hopefully it helps you to decide what bcp is best for you... Good luck http://www.wdxcyber.com/ncontr13.htm

I guess everyone has different reactions to bcps. I disliked seasonal so much that I stopped taking it after only a few weeks. I felt like I was pregnant. I had "morning sickness" all the time and it was so bad that I couldn't even brush my teeth without gagging. I thought I was pregnant, but as soon as I stopped taking the bcp all my sickness went away. I guess this was probably just my reaction to this type of pill because I've never felt like this on any other pill.
You’d want to talk to you doc about this first, but here’s a suggestion. If you’re doing okay with Yasmin, see about taking it continuously. From what I understand, that all Seasonal does anyways. My doc just put me back on Yasmin after trying other pills b/c of side effects w/ Yasmin. The others were almost as bad, so she said this time to skip the white inactive pills and go straight into the next pack. She said to do this a few months, then take the white ones, and alternate that way. This is supposed to help with the side effects I was having and I should only have af when I take the white ones. Less PMS J !!! But I too have a doc appt. on V-day (w/ endo this time) and will have to make sure he agrees this will help. Good Luck!

Can't wait to start WW again and loose the other 15lbs I gained with the last pregnancy and the 30lbs I still needed to lose with the first one.

I do this with Desogen. Worked great until recently (past year or two, I think because of other meds I'm on), but worked perfectly for about four years. Three months no period, then about a 4-5 day normal period.
I had trouble with Seasonale. I was really moody/sad, tired, and the cramps when I got the period were horrendus. Plus, my body didn't like the three months without a period, and I was constantly spotting. I am now on Yasmin and it works much better for me. Of course, everyone's different when it comes to that. Yasmin is often prescribed for PCOS'rs because it contains some of the active medicines in aldactone that stops unwanted hair growth. However, the amount of it isn't really enough to change the world, so not taking it is not the be all and end all.
I agree with what people say about talking to your doctor, though. I have friends who do the three months without a period thing, and they are fine on it. As long as it's a bcp that gives a constant level of hormone, and not something like Ortho TriCyclen, which gives you different amounts depending on the week.
