I had pretty much decided to roll over and give up but I just need some insight. If you haven't read my first beta post...I had serial betas drawn this week. 3201 on Monday, 4916 on Wednesday and 6736 (close to but not positive) on Friday. Because it had gone up just a little bit from Wednesday to Friday, my doc ordered an ultrasound on Friday evening. It showed an embryo, measuring 5w6d (by my count I was 6 weeks Friday so that was good) with a heart rate of 109-113. There was fluid and debris in my endometrium. The US tech thought it was either bleeding or the remains of a second gestational sac that had started forming. The doctor said that this was a bad sign in combination with my slow rising betas and I would lose the pregnancy by Monday. It's Sunday afternoon and no cramping or bleeding. I know it could still be coming, I just wanted to know what everyone's opinion is? Some girls had expressed in my other post that I maybe shouldn't give up yet. I'm still treating my body as if it's pregnant just in case.

You could have had a vanishing twin.
That would explain the second beta not rising very well, and the debris that they saw.
It is possible that the baby that is still there, measuring right on schedule, with a heartbeat To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. (both VERY promising signs!), could very well be just fine, and might not m/c.
I would say that you still have hope that everything will be fine while that baby still has a heartbeat!!!!
Did they check your progesterone?
I am keeping you and your baby in my prayers.

I think you could still have a healthy pregnancy. The ultrasounds tht early can easily be off by a few days and that's a good heartbeat for 6 weeks. And as betas get higher, they don't double as fast...a vanishing twin will affect them too.
With my miscarriage in March, we saw the baby at 7w3d. It measured 5w6d and heart rate was in the 90s. Obviously something was wrong. I bled once a few days later, but for the next 10d we still had a heartbeat. Only 2 weeks later was there no heart beat. Then I had an office procedure as I still had not started bleeding.
So I would follow with ultrasounds. It's important that you are sure about things I think for piece of mind.
And I'm sorry you are habing such a stressful time.

I hope, hope, hope, everything is ok with your pregnacy! I read your other posts and I am still hoping for you! Somedays technology stinks because of the uncertainty and waiting. I am glad you are still acting pregnant because you still are with the heart beat Friday and still no bleeding. I hope you get another ultrasound soon. Update us again.

I hate having to wait like this, I know there isn't much to be done but wait. DH and I decided that if I haven't started bleeding by Thursday I'm going to call the office again-they are closed Fridays. He didn't check a progesterone, I had one done before I got preg and it was normal. We've just been soooo stressed out since I had the bleeding, it's been up and down and up and down.

I would def call and get an u/s to check if the heart beat is still there. If it is don't give up. Even now don't give up! I've heard of it happening plenty of times with similar situations. I wish you the best of luck and keep your heads held high.

Hi Sara, I'm so sorry you are going to this. My last pregnancy went very similar to what you describe, it was awful. All the waiting and worrying is the worst. My betas started out o.k., but then they stopped doubling. They were still going up, but slowly. I had an ultrasound at around 6 weeks and there was a heartbeat, which gave me hope. They had me come back two weeks later for another ultrasound and unfortunately, there was no longer a heartbeat. I ended up having a D&C with chromosome testing which revealed the baby was chromosomally abnormal (trisomy 7, triploidy). As awful as all this waiting is, I wouldn't give up as long as there is a heartbeat. My story doesn't have a happy ending, but I have read other stories that did. ((Hugs)) and I hope you get a happy ending.
Were they only giving you 48 hours in between? From what I've read, it can take up to 96 hours to double when you're over 1200. Secondly, was the heart rate normal when you had your ultrasound?

No news, just waiting. All my symptoms keep coming and going. I would like to have another ultrasound Thursday or Friday but I bet he makes me wait.

I had all my betas from that pregnancy saved in beta base so I looked them up for you:
11dpo-65
14dpo-182-48.47 hrs doubling time
16dpo-357-49.38 hrs doubling time
18dpo-799-41.30 hrs doubling time
21dpo-1538-76.21 hrs doubling time
23dpo-2111-105.06 hrs doubling time
28dpo-3385-176.15 hrs doubling time
30dpo-3314-dropped
They never told me what the heart rate was but they said it looked good. We (myself and the nurses) were shocked to get the heart beat since my betas #'s weren't going very well. I was expecting the worst when I went into that ultrasound, and was shocked to get a heartbeat. Like I said, unfortunately my story doesn't have a happy ending, but if you are looking for some hope, check out: To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. . There are a lot of stories on there that will give you hope. ((Hugs)) and I hope things work out for you. I know how awful all this waiting and worrying is.
I called this afternoon and they don't want to see me until 11/30 when my original first appointment was for, 3 weeks from today. I know that I need to give it time to change and I'm guessing if it doesn't make it I'll pass it before then. I just hate the idea of running around with a dead embryo in my belly if my body decides to hold on to it.
I should pass it if I'm going to by then, right?

Have you considered a second opinion? Trying a nother OB? I know my first ob irritated me out the wazoo but atleast...she didn't hesitate giving me and u/s and then sending me a radioligist for a second u/s to make sure what happend before I had my d&c. She was on the ball.
I was 8 weeks and was only spotting... I opted for a d&c for the fact I know i wouldn't have been able to handle seeing... things come out.
