Question See new doc tomorrow...need help w/ ? to ask!!!

I have an apptmt tomorrow with a new doc (in same practice as I've been going to, but he's an infertility guy) and we're going to discuss my recent m/c that I'm still bleeding/spotting/clotting from (for a month almost now) and we want to talk to him about where to go from here...anyone with any ideas what to ask, what tests to request, etc would be great. We have a ton of questions, but I feel like we're leaving out important stuff...

Hello.

Are you getting general fertility testing done? In general, they like to test the man (sperm analysis) first because its much easier to diagnose issues in men than in women. After that, my doc started with a blood workup for me. Even before my husband came back all good, my doc suspected I had PCOS. So basically for me, he just ran tests to confirm it. Were you on any medicines to ttc? If not, he might want to put you on some meds. My doc put me on Metformin. I don't know the more complicated tests b/c I never had them done, but I do know there are several more complex procedures that can be done to make sure your tubes are clear, etc.

As for the m/c, I think the only testing they can do after the fact, w/o the baby, is for clotting disorders. One thing which they can test for when you are pg again is your progesterone. I know a lot of girls have low prog. which leads to m/c.

Good luck with everything.

Any update? I'm wondering if the new doc gave you something to look forward to or knew what testing might help to decide the plan.

Best wishes,
Sheri

Thank you sooo much for asking!

Yes, I went to the doc, and basically, he wants me to wait 3 mos. and then come back on day 21 of that cycle and have my progesterone checked. He seems to think I may not need much "help" since I was able to conceive on my own without meds..it's the staying preg that we're not sure of, so that's the reason for checking the progesterone levels...For the bleeding situation right now, my beta was down to 10, so he wants me to check it again at the end of next week, and by then it should be negative...and now hpefully my periods will resume the way they should and we can start over. It's really hard accepting to wait for 3 mos. when we've already been trying for so long and then this happened....so now to wait 3 more mos. will be very difficult. I understand why and know it's for the best, but i'ts still hard...i'm just hoping that as soon as we get the "go ahead" again, that all falls into place and it works out right away....
