Thumbs up Seeing an Endometriosis specialist on Thursday!!! =D

Hello =]

Backstory - AMAZING luck!!!:
I had surgery back in November for Endometriosis. My doctor said the surgery failed because of my weight (a - I know women my size and larger who have had this surgery successfully and b - isn't laparoscopic surgery what they use for LapBand?) ANYWAYYYY I called BS on that and then my doctor left the practice.

In December, I decided to try again. My friend had the surgery with a great OB/GYN surgeon and she got pregnant within a few months. Problem is, he is so good that he's always books for months into the future. So, my appointment was April 16th.

A few weeks after I made the appointment, I found out I was pregnant. So, I canceled the appointment - obviously I couldn't do/wouldn't need the surgery anymore. Then I miscarried.

I kept thinking...I need to make another appointment. But what if I get pregnant in the meantime? I haven't gotten pregnant since and the other day, the doctor's office called to confirm my appointment for April 16th!!! They forgot to cancel the appointment!!!

SO, now that I'm a little more prepared, is there anything you think I should look into or ask about this stuff? I don't want to get stuck with another set of hospital bills for no reason again. Has anyone ever heard of this weight problem with lap surgery for Endo?

I'm so excited and I hope everything works out this time. The pain has been UNBEARABLE these last few weeks. And OMG after sex I just can't move because of it. It's like the final insult: pain after sex. I can't stand it, and it sucks to have that pain when you are TTC!

Great! Can I ask who you're going to, is it Hibner? I don't mean to be indelicate - not being thin myself, I did have surgery last year, and can offer you some info re: you last surgery. Are you VERY heavy? Kind of heavy? I think he's off track, as you say, but I can only relate to my own experience, but happy to do that.

Have you seen these sites, erc.activboard.com/ and endo-resolved.com? They have some tips on laps.

Evabear -- I want to say good for you to go to another dr for a second opinion. I remember how tough it was on you with your previous doctor. I defintely think the surgery is WELL worth it

I found that grouping together my lap, hysteroscopy & D&C it made things cheaper. Since you've m/carried you may ask to also have these done to get more information. Since you will already be under this saves money and time and you get A LOT more answers (which we all love).

I know you can't always *plan* sex, but try some ibuprofen before you DTD. Also, I have a friend that does physical therapy for Endometriosis and that has helped a TON. I was also about to start physical therapy for Endometriosis. You may ask your dr about this option as well.

deedee - I sent you a PM with my e-mail address. I would really like to hear more but I'm keeping a hold on things until Kat changes my username - use this for everything and I've got a stalker issue. My ex-boyfriend's wife (not my ex-boyfriend...his WIFE) is stalking me and I don't want to share too much info so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me an e-mail as soon as you can! Also, the doctor's name is LaBand...Dr. Steve LaBand.

Olivia - thanks =] Yeah you were a big help with that stuff and I believe the miscarriage posts as well =[ You know I've been having disturbing nightmares since the miscarriage? It's so scary! Anyway, I *might* have a D&C done while I'm under also...I will see what the doctor says. When I was under for this surgery last time my doctor did a D&C (still not fully sure why) and I don't want to overdo it...I can't risk cervical incompetence if I want to hold a baby in there for 9 months!! =] But if he thinks I need it and that it won't push my luck with my cervix (I guess my mom has a thin cervix to begin with so...yay for more hereditary health issues!).

Default endo

I hear ya! I think I see the PM now, and will reply

Are you just having the app't this thursday, or the surgery?

Yes, when I had endo excision, I had the excision, the D & C to remove polyps, and the hysteroscopy at the same time...

Here's some info for other women to check out, if they suspect endo...the CEC does free records reviews and they are great!

i hope it's ok to answer your pm here, generally, since it turns out i can't pm people until i have like 20 + more messages...first, i wanted to post these sites also, if anyone wants info about help with naturally conceiving, esp after surgery...there's a book on nutrition and fertility by marilyn shannon

naprotechnology.com (see surgery section) and fertilitycare.org

ok - so i'm about a size 16 - my inactivity because of endo and other problems got me to there, i'm 5'4" - it seems not that long ago i was a 12 , and before that an 8 and before that a 4 /6!!!

it's not that weight can really be an issue, it's just that i had a jerk ob/gyn / gp say something once, so i sympathize...

weight can be a real issue if you're heavier, like MUCH heavier, but it's not an issue at some sizes...no doctor mentioned it to me re: excision, but i did read it in a pamphlet, because there's the abdominal fat issue...sadly, i've put weight on in that area esp, since i don't exercise to the level i once did...

but i wanted to say at my size / weight, i think there was no problem! only a lame doc would try to use that excuse with most women...

sorry i can't PM you! oh well

i can read yours to me....do you just have an appointment, or do you have surgery scheduled? have you checked out ratemds.com to see if he has a listing? those are patient reviews

feel free to write back / pm

Good idea not to push it w/ your cervix w/ the D&C unless the dr feels it necessary.

I'm glad you are feeling so positive about this doctor

Please let us know how Thursday goes!!!
