 Seeking treatment: What can PCOS be misdiagnosed as?
I really would like to know: What can be misdiagnosed as PCOS or can really be PCOS but diagnosed as something else?
I've suspected for about three years that I have PCOS. My parents went out of their way to avoid any testing for it, calling the doctor after the appointments and cancelling my hormone blood tests and then changing me to a super conservative doctor who wouldn't even address female problem with me or didn't believe in them. That said, I'm finally seeing a doctor about it, on my own terms. I have every symptom, except thinning hair since I'll get my heavy, painful period twice in a month then maybe skip it, but never regularly.
Long story short, I started puberty at around 10 (early, I know) and was pretty regular for a few years but went haywire around 13, when all the other symptoms started popping up. I'm 18 now and in college far from home, but will have the chance to see another doctor in a few weeks. At the same visit, I'll also be having another problem treated, so I need to have all my information in order, including other symptoms similar to PCOS so the visit will go smooth.
Though I'm almost 100% sure it's PCOS, I'm so tired of dealing with it (I literally have hair on my entire body, even near my eye sockets, forehead, cheeks, all over breasts, you name it) and am desperate for any diagnosis at this point, so I want to know of any similar conditions I could bring to my doctor's attention, since it'll be a GP not an OB/GYN.
