Lightbulb Sending The Message

Ok I had this idea.
I think it would be worth a try to get the word out about PCOS if we would write to different popular tv shows and /or magazines "Oprah,Berman and Berman,etc....and just drop a hint that people need and want to know more about PCOS. For so many females to have PCOS there is not enough information out there. I know what when I was dx I had no idea what PCOS was. I actually thought I was going to die. Like I had some fatal disease that there was no cure for. This was because nothing was explained to me and I had never heard of it. I had to get on the internet and find out about it for myself. Talk about stress......... BUT THAT'S WHEN I FOUND THIS SITE....((**"THANKS"**))
Doing this might not help at all but then again! it could be what it takes to get the ball rolling. If enough people write then they can't just ignore all of us. I think we can do it.
Please let me know who all decides to write and help send the message.
Thanks

I wrote to Oprah a few months ago on this issue, let me know if there is anything that I can do to help out on this.

great minds think alike, I posted the same idea in the invitations board! I also posted it at fertility friends.com. Another great site, in thier PCOS circle there are some great ladies. So I definitely am up for this, I want to start a freakin PCOS revolution! People need to know it's there and what it's about and maybe (just maybe) there might be some specialist out there that is put in contact with whomever responds and they can give us some answers????? might be nice for once! since every dr I talk to has NO CLUE and "the pill" is the only cure! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!

A few months ago I sent a letter to Oprah and The View, along with several other magazines and television shows. I never got any sort of response, but why am I really surprised, I suppose?

ok, I understand why you might not want to try again, but i have about 10 people already flooding thier inboxes, and if we ALL do it twice a day, they can't ignore the fact that there is a need. And if we dont hear back from any of them, I personally will write a letter to the NY times about talk shows like Oprah who says that they are looking to help women, and then ignore a HUGE issue in women's lives. I will also write a human interest peice on the fact that Foxwoods Resort Casino fired me due to medical absence when they had documented letters from my dr's and even the hospital for my absences. I just want to do our best to make something happen. If we sit around feeling sorry for ourselves, which is what I have been guilty of for months, then we are not doing anything to help ourselves or others. If we at least make a full blown effort to get the word out then at least we can say we gave it our all. I am sure that those with other disorders had to do the same things in thier time when things were just getting out, I mean MS has a million sponsors backing it, and yes it is a well diserving and a very serious disease, but so is PCOS. It is not something we may die from, but technically it is, people die from Diabetes and cancer, and those are two things that PCOS can lead to. And I know that my self-esteem is already dead and my ambition to do things with my life is dead and my ideas of having a large family is severely suffering because of this. But I/we can't give up on this knowing that there are people out there that may have some sort of answer or be able to find it. From all of the people I have talked to about TTC, it's the most heartwrenching part of all of this. People having 3 and four miscarraiges, and I for one don't know if I could handle that. We need to be proactive just as we were when going to the Dr's to find out what was wrong. So it really doesn't take much time, you can send the same letter over and over again if you'd like, just hit paste and send to a few links and see if this prayer comes true.

I never said I wouldn't try again; all I said was that I'd sent out a letter (http://www.darkerviolet.com/pcos) to several outlets, and still haven't gotten a response.

Hey all, did you notice Kat's post in "announcements" that she is has recently finished taping an Oprah show about weight loss? She mentions that the show wasn't specifically about PCOS, but that she has talked with the show about perhaps dedicating an episode to PCOS.

She has put a call out for PCOS success stories...you guys should check it out!
