I've always loved that prayer. There's actually another part to it. Here is the entire prayer:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him

Thanks for posting the whole prayer and the author's name. I had no idea about his past and different beliefs throughout his life.

I love this prayer. It always makes me think of home. While I was growing up (I grew up with my nana) we had that prayer on a piece of stained glass hanging in our kitchen. I have seen it every day of my life and it gives me hope. I was so shocked to find a thread about it on here. | |
