Unhappy seriously asymmetrical ovaries

I went for a HORRIBLE transvaginal ultrasound today. To sum it up:

The tech had me insert the wand, at first it was weird but alright... she took more pics of my uterus and i felt no pressure or anything, just movement. Then she said she was looking for my right ovary, and this time I felt pressure and it was uncomfortable, but not painful.

Then she said she was moving on to find the left ovary. I felt it moving all over the place, and then I heard her sigh, and then she started to push on it. I felt more and more pressure and she kept moving around, and sighing more, and then started to push so hard it HURT. I must've squeaked or something because she apologized and told me that she just could not FIND the left ovary. I guess finally she saw it then and she said that she was going to take the pics now, for me to hold still, and she pressed so hard to get the pics I almost started to cry, it hurt so bad.

It was more than uncomfortable, it was painful. I'd rather have TEN paps than to ever ever ever do that again. She explained to me afterwards that my ovaries are "Asymmetrical" and that my left ovary is NOWHERE NEAR where my right ovary is on the other side, which was why it took so long and was so uncomfortable.

So, does anyone else have this asymmetrical ovary problem??? Are vaginal u/s always this painful? I don't think she was a bad tech, just trying to get the pics we needed so I wouldn't have to do it all over again...

I also responded to your post in the other section. My right ovary is up much higher than my left and likes to hide. They have a heck of a time trying to find it! It has caused some discomfort, but it has never caused pain. It may depend on where the ovary hides, I don't know. I've had 2 different techs do my u/s, neither hurt me. The first one said that it is very common to have an ovary "hide". I hope that if you have to have any more in the future, it doesn't hurt.

They've always let me insert the wand. I think it's because some women may feel uncomfortable with someone else inserting it. It also helps because when you insert it yourself you're more likely to know the angle to go in at so it's not painful.
