what's your dosage? I've found the dosage to be very hard to set. Less than 75mg, I am hypomanic at night and don't sleep, any more than 100mg, I'm a complete zombie.

well my pdoc gave me a RX for 200mg twice daily, but she just did that because she had a coupon for me to get a whole RX free so she wanted to perscribe the most she can so I could recieve it for free. She told me just to kinda play around and see what works for me. So here I go not knowing how much to take, and in the past RX sleeping meds didn't help none. Tylenol PM's I have to take more the listed because if not it doesnt work. So I jump in and take 200 mg right off the bat. Today i've been battleing holding my eyes open, just in a daze all day, sleeping and having really bad body aches and chills. I'm gonna wait a few days and try again, starting off at just 25 mg and wait awhile, if i don't get sleepy take another 25mg. till i see what works, but if i still have the effects like i have today afterwards, then i'm not gonna take it anymore.
i'm like you too, it doesn't matter how my day has been, when it's bedtime i automatically go into hypomania, i can be drowsy and lazy the entire day, barely pulling along, but when it's bedtime nope, its like a huge on switch for me. do you know of any other meds good for the insomnia?
my tylenol pm's work pretty good, but i've takin 4 of them everyday for the past year and a half, i know that's got to be harsh on my liver and i really want to get on something a little safer.

200 is a lot. I started at 12.5mg and slowly worked my way up---going slow can be frustrating at times, but I think it's better in the long run.

Unfortunately, I've tried darn near everything else out their for insomnia, seroquel is the only thing that has worked, and has curbed the hypomania at night--on most sleeping pills I get an even worse version of that. How is your tapering up going?

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather--I lost mine after a struggle with cancer, and I know it's really tough, especially in the last weeks and days. As for a pill cutter, any pharmacy should sell them, so if you can get to a Target or a Walmart...you should be able to find them.

When i started on Seroquel, just 25 mg, I was sooooo tired! Really tired and wired at the same time. But this stuff really works for me, but getting a dose that works for you seems to be very individual. I got a pill splitter and went down to taking 12.5 morning and night...I seem to need a bit more on bad days, so I take a whole 25mg pill at night, or a bit more during the day as needed. Don't give up on this med quite yet. Seems like it takes a while for your body to get adjusted to it. Start slowly and work up in the dose, otherwise you'll sleep like a zombie. Crazy meds website has alot of info on Seroquel, as well as other mind meds.

Seroquel also seems to work on my depression, as well as on the hyper side of bi-polar. anyone else find the same effect? I am a new person after starting this stuff.
