I think zoloft does have a possible side effect of that. I take zoloft and I suspect it keeps me from being as horny as I used to be. However, I suspect that my birth control is doing that to me too.

I think it effects everyone diferently, but I would give it some time and if the problem still persists talk to your doctor about it.

Chula,
When I was on Zoloft, I still wanted sex, but it did effect my orgasms. They were harder to achieve and they weren't as strong. They were still good though. In my book, there is no such thing as a bad orgasm! Good luck, how are you feeling other than that??

Lightbulb Zoloft info.

Zoloft in general effects everyone differently, with mine the most stuborn side effect I really get is the insomnia. As far as for the sex drive, I don't think it effected mine at all. I still want it like crazy. I just tell my boyfriend, "Hey, I can't help it, I have raging hormones, they are outta wack." But he never complaines about that.

I would definantly talk with your doctor about it.

Less common or rare side effects of Zoloft:
hearing problems, hot flushes, impotence, inability to stay seated, increased appetite, increased salivation, increased sex drive, inflamed nasal passages...
Some of the more common side effects of Zoloft:
Abdominal pain, agitation, anxiety, constipation, decreased sex drive, diarrhea or loose stools, difficulty with ejaculation, dizziness, dry mouth, fatigue, gas, headache, and decreased appetite....

Default new to this board, but here's my 2 cents:

I have found that antidepressants definitely affect my sex drive.
Was on Effexor for 5 years before its became less effective as an antidepressant. But I never had much of a libido while on it. Of course, that may be that I had twins after several years of TTC - and when you're running after them you're too tired to do ANYTHING.
Am now on citalopram and the sex drive may be improving. But it still ain't great.

just returned from my internist and he mentioned Byetta to me. Anyone on it?
Anyone lost any weight? I am not technically diabetic-but have been on metformin for 5 years, so if I went off-who knows what the blood work would show. I do have good control on it-but was wondering about the Byetta.

I was on Paxil which is from the same family as Prozac and Zoloft. Not only did it kill my sex drive but it made it hard for me to become wet (sorry tmi). So even if I was having sex with my husband just for him, my body wouldn't let me. Definitely affected orgasms, too. I was switched to Wellbutrin (I was trying to quit smoking, too) and that made me so dizzy and sick that I had to go off cold turkey which was the most awful thing ever. I did have success with Celexa for a while though. Talk to your doctor if it's really upsetting you.

I have had the same problems with Prozac and Celexa affecting my sex drive majorly. It makes me where I don't even want to be touched. My doc just switched me to Lexapro a few days ago so I am hoping it will not affect my sex drive as much.

I've had less desire since going on the Zoloft. I had it for a couple of months before I went on the Zoloft. I don't hate sex, but I don't crave it either. I too have had a problem with dryness.

I'm on lexapro, and thankfully my sex drive is doing just great. The thing about SSRI's is that they effect everyone differently. If you aren't satisfied with you meds now, by all means ask your Dr. to try something else. If all else fails, you can go back on it and try to find a way around it since it's working so well for you othewise. Hope you find something that works for you!

Unhappy Lexapro

I have been on Lexapro for years. I'm just now starting to take half pills every night instead of the whole dose...to see how I do. I wouldn't mind weaning myself off completely just to see how it goes. My problem is I want sex...but then can't seem to orgasm...it is extremely frustrating and causing problems with significant other as that is what he wants for me and he's not happy that I'm not. I'm really at a loss right now for a solution to this other than trying to get off the Lexapro to see if that is the cause.
