Default Share your toddler activities!

Hi gals

I again am searching for activities!!! Thomas will be home with me for the bulk of next year (starting tomorrow) and after all the activities at daycare will be looking for stuff to do.

For the arty people out there - what activities have you done with your toddlers that have been successful?

He already has stamp pads, paints, stamps, crayons etc that we will use. I am just looking at getting a range of activities for him.

Looking forward to hearing from some brave mummies!

Hi there

a personal favourite of my little miss two Emma's and mine is going into the yard and collecting a whole heap of leaves and flowers and different bits of grass.. alternatively if you go on walks or to the park collect them as you go.. and then when you're finished all that get some clear contact (you know the stuff you cover school books with - its cheap at woolies or the like) and cut out squares about 30cm x 30 cm's .. stick it to a table with some bits of tape (contact side sticky side facing up) and then make a collage out of all the leaves and flowers.. Emma and I spent a good couple of hours doing it and she's also quite happy to sit there and do it on her own too.. We've done it a few times in the last few months and she loves doing it.. When you're finished with the collage put another 30cm x 30cm piece of contact over the top of it sticky side face down and then tape it to a window..

a variation on that if Thomas is starting to use scissors get some old magazines and let him cut them up and put the cut outs on the contact.. or use paper and glue..

Fee I've got a great paperback book called 365 TV free activities for toddlers - got it from QBD or similar bookstore - you might want to see if you can find yourself a copy - it was pretty inexpensive from memory and well worth it.

Womens weekly also has a couple of books for toddlersI used them for reference when studying childcare and they had some fantastic ideas.

You can also make stamps aout of vegetables esp ones that are getting a bit tatty and you would probably ditch anyway and put paint on them.

Big W has some fantastic books usually the same as the bookstores but half the price.I think the trick is to try and vary so don't put everything out at once maybe stamps one day, pencils the next?

I found this website by Googling activities for toddlers it seemed pretty easy to follow the things and had heaps of ideas along with heaps of other websites

Good luck I am sure you will have as much fun as he will.
