Sharp abdominal pain when pressure is applied to stomach?
Long before being diagnosed, I would sometimes get a very sharp pain in my abdomen on one side or the other if pressure was applied. It's not something I can make happen on my own, but it's usually when the dog is on my lap and then jumps off a certain way or if my husband accidentally elbows me in his sleep or something.
Since being diagnosed, I have been curious if this is actually ovary pain. About nine months ago, I had my first and only ovarian ultrasound and I could see at least ten cysts on each ovary. I honestly couldn't tell you if they could be considered small or large, but they were there. I have no clue how many I have now, but I have been on BCPs ever since then, and I have read those can help reduce the cysts in either number or size.
My boss also has PCOS and has had two cysts rupture in the past. She described the pain as worse than child labor including severe nausea, and said she was pretty much worthless for the next few days. As far as I know, based on her information, I have never had a cyst rupture, but I am concerned about the fact that it can happen. If the sharp pains I feel from time to time are actually related to my ovarian cysts, is it possible that one of these days when pressure is accidentally applied to just the right spot, I could have a cyst rupture? What even causes cysts to rupture?
Well, I don't know that I have an answer for you. I developed PCOS over the last 7 months or so. As far as I knew I never had ovulation problems before. THen my periods became irregular and the sudden appearance of a host of other PCOS symptoms. Anyway, the scariest symptoms was the mid cycle pain and bleeding. I think that was the development of ovarian cysts while my body was accustomed to and still trying hard to ovulate. It was like clockwork, though my periods were irregular by several days to a couple of weeks. I would know when I was trying to ovulate because the pain would come out of the blue and was really really bad, causing sweats and everything, and also would have some light bleeding as though my period was coming. But behold 14 days later I knew my period would start. With regard to your question, I did nothing to bring it on, no pressing, maybe some sex that was painful and maybe putting pressure on the ovaries, but I did nothing to worsen the problem...
I do have frequent stabbing pains where my ovaries are, and they are usually related to eating a large meal, waiting too long topee and my bladder is totally full, or having a full bowel. Those things seem to really irritate my deep pelvic pains. I don't know if that's PCOS ovary related or perhaps adhesions from my previous abdominal surgery?

Thank you for your response. That sounds like something different than what I've been experiencing, though. The pain I get has no ties to any time of my cycle that I've noticed so far.
I'm gonna tell you, I've had this, and also had colon "hydrotherapy" done, in a desperate attempt for pain relief. Sometimes you can get your intestines "full", where they aren't acting as efficiently as they should. After I had the hydrotherapy, I was actually pain free for a few weeks, till I got sloppy and started eating less veggies and drinking less water than I should. Try introducing some fiber into your diet if you don't have a lot in it right now. The initial stuff might hurt, because it's working it's way through, but afterwards you feel better.
I've done some herbal "intestinal cleaner" and "colon clenz", and both help. I don't know if this is it for you, but I know that's what it usually winds up being for me. (I also don't know if it's that far up, either- but you can have some pain from just a lil higher than the ovaries since your colon slopes that far down, and PCOS can make you constipated.)
