Default Sharp upper abdominal pains after Met

Hi. I just found out I was pregnant last week. I had been taking 1500mg of Metformin until the nurse told me to stop taking it on Thursday. Since then, I have had two sleepless nights where I am getting this excruciating pain in my upper left abdominal area. Could this be my gallbladder? Should I have gradually come off the Metformin? The nurse told me to just stop taking it but I have been wondering if I should have ramped down and slowly lowered the dosage. Anyway, I am now so afraid to eat anything...I have also been getting indigestion and bad gas.

Also, I am really worried that this is going to continue and I don't know what to do. I am going to call the doctor tomorrow but I am really worried about this. I hope it doesn't cause me to lose the baby!

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Jackie

By now, you have probably already called the doctor, but.....
I just had my gall bladder removed about a year ago (with over a dozen stones). The pains that I had started dead center in my upper belly (right under my rib cage) with a slow burning sensation that made me very nauseous. It would then move to my upper right side just under the ribs (where the gall bladder itself is) and then really start to hurt.
I would recommend asking your doctor, because I only know what I experienced with the gall bladder. It could potentially just be gas or something with your digestion. But, I would want to know for sure. I haven't heard about how best to quit met.

Best wishes, and I hope this helped a little bit.
Kim
