Default Shaving causing painful bumps/pimples!

I recently started to have a problem after shaving under my chin. I am getting huge red bumps, filled with pus or clear sticky fluid, they are incredibly painful and unsightly.
I have done some reading, and I may be using the wrong razor (3 bladed), so I will try going back to a 2 blade razor and see if that helps, other than that I am not doing/using anything different that I am aware of, and I cannot guarantee that is the problem, but I was wondering if anyone else has had/is having this problem or if anyone has any ideas/suggestions?
They are very irritating and I find myself picking at them all the time which causes them to become even more red and painful.
Thanks ladies!

have you thought about maybe waxing or using a facial hair removal cream? Maybe it wouldn't cause the bumps and no stubble.

I have never waxed, but I have tried the removing cream and it makes me rash really badly (burns my skin). I have dark, coarse hair (sadly) and it is hard to dissolve.
I am not sure wax could pull it out, it is so thick and coarse.

the hair on my upper lip is dark, but sort of thin, but on my chin and my sideburns are thick and coarse as well and waxing has fixed that problem right up....plus there is no stubble and you are good for me anyway about 2 weeks til I have to go back.

You got to a salon or something for waxing? Do the inhome kits work just as well? Is it very painful?
Thank you for all of your help!

I actually go to a nail salon. I've been going to them for over 10 years now. They have curtains etc so that way it's very private and much cheaper than a spa or anything. As far as the at home kits I'm not sure. The only one that I did try was pre-cut eyebrow waxing strips and those did not work, nor did that Nads stuff if you remember that. If you could find an at-home kit it would be much easier, since you wouldn't have to worry about being all red and paying money. That's the only part I hate, is that I'm red (I turn really red, but my mom does not)...as far as hurting...it's not a walk in the park, it does sting, but it usually only lasts about 5-10 seconds, and the more you get it done, the smoother your hair becomes so it hurts less in time. HTH!

Maybe it was infected... Try to consult dermatologist for the best way. Or try using Xtend Life Products for your face. I'm sure there are lots of skin products over there. Just check it out.

When you shave do you use a good shaving cream? I have to shave the same area and do sometimes get these bumps you are referring to. I find that they happen more if I use soap instead of shaving cream.

Also, I haven't tried this yet but I read on another thread about Magic Powder. This is actually marketed for black men to use to remove beard hair. They are prone to this issue when they shave. Apparently it works great, is nonirritating and cheap. I haven't tried to find it where I live yet but plan to today.

Thanks! Well, I have been using a store brand of shaving jel, maybe I should go back to the name brand. I have used this brand before, but something has to have changed to start causing this!
I am currently using my DH's electric shaver to see if I can clear some of it up. It just doesn't do a very good job, I don't think I would go out in public right now LOL.
Please let me know if you find the Magic Powder and what you think of it Lori!

I found the Magic Powder at Walgreens yesterday. I have not tried it yet. I shaved before I left home yesterday so I need to wait a while before I use it. I think I'm going to try it on my legs today and see how it works. I was impressed by the price $2.59 forthe can. The can looks kind of small but for the face you only use 2 teaspoons at a time and that's for a full beard. I'll let you know when I use it.

It does sound like an infection. However, if its ingrown hairs - try using unscented deodrant after shaving. I use it after shaving down there & its incredible. Also prevents the itchiness the day or two after.

Hi

Well, I don't get red, huge bumps... but I suddenly started to get small white bumps in different places on the body :S, like very small pimples, where you can press them and a little bit white fluid come out :S, well I thought it was something awful and serious... but my doctor also just told me it it's quite natural and may occur from shaving... I just think it's weird that it suddenly comes... long after one started to shave... don't know if my body has become more sensitive, or the knife I'm using isn't good enough or such... anyway, there are really really annoying and don't help ones self-esteem :S but I don't know what to do about them... personally I don't have what it takes to use WAX hehe and my skin is too sensitive for shaving cremes... I lately used some bleash speacialy made for body/facial hair on the darkish hair above my lip... which was really nice but, well it won't really do any good all the places where the bumps occur so... really, there's just the knife... hmmm...you could try using som pure aloe vera, perhaps? Anyway, hope you find a cure and i'd be happy to know about it
