im so relieved to read that im not the only girl in the world who shaves her face
its highly embarssing and ive never told anyone
i started to shave when i was around 14 yrs old and i always thought it was the reason i started to have hair in weird places..but now ive realized its due to PCOS
the thing is..i dont want to shave anymore. the stubble is horrifying and fortunately i dont have a boyfriend now, but im trying to imagine when i do..how will i handle this! i want to make a transitiion to a more appropriate way to remove facial hair..but im not sure how do go about doing that
First of all I want to tell you that you are definetely not the only girl who shaves her face, and I also want to let you know I know exactly how you feel! I got so sick of shaving and feeling unfeminine because of it so I switched my hair removing process! I WAX AND I LOVE IT! I have only done this two times on my face, so it is fairly new to me. I love the results though! They are so much better than shaving! You are so much smoother, it last longer, and you feel more feminine. The only bad part is you do have to wait for the hair to grow out...but I definetely think it is worth it! I have very sensitive skin...so after I get waxed I do break out a little a become red....but I use a soothing cream and a product called "bump eliminator," that works wonders! I hope this helps...and I hope you try the waxing...I really think you will like it!

I am new to this...personally I don’t shave, I tried it once or twice and found it to be a real pain in the butt, I tried waxing a few times too, it really hurt, and it made my face go red for like forever, I hated it, it also made it grow in thicker!!! what I do is something called thriding it takes a little longer and I wont lie, it does hurt a little, but its really, really good, it comes back but it comes back softer and not so noticeable. It last longer then waxing too. Waxing for me made it come back really thick, it was great the first few times but after a while of doing it I soon found it wasn’t the way. It made it come back thicker and faster and it sometimes hurt or itched! I think maybe you should try or think about trying thriding, its what the people in the other country’s use, and they generally have more hair, so they have an easy way to help stop it. I hope this can help someone, of not it was at least worth a shot lol, have a nice night, laters
I agree - threading is a wonderful thing! And the hairs don't have to grow back as long before you do it, unlike waxing. I thread too, about once a month, and pluck stray hairs in between. It does hurt, but as you do it more, it doesn't hurt as much. And you don't get any of the bumps and redness you get with waxing. I've been lucky, though, because only a few on my hairs are coarse and dark, the others are fine and blonde and barely show so I can get away with doing it less often.

I would also like to know what threading is. I normaly use tweezers on my face a couple times a week, and it can be very time consuming. So I would like to find something that would take less time and last a little longer. Thanks!
Here is an article about threading. You can ask your esthetician if they know how to do it. You can even learn it yourself if they are willing to teach you, it's not very difficult.

One thing you might want to try is Vaniqa - the prescription cream that makes your hair grow back more slowly and lighter I think. I haven't tried it myself, but I'm interested in it. Also, you can use this and continue shaving at the same time.
Are cream depilatories an option for you? Like Nair or Sally Hansen?
I plan to try the vanquia cream once I have a baby... but until then I shave. It's ALOT less painful than waxing or plucking.. and it takes very little time in the shower each day. I use a anti itch cream on the area after shaving and I don't get ingrown hair or razor bumps.

every two weeks, i get the hairs on my upper and side lip removed through electrolysis. it is quite painful because it involves inserting a needle into the hair follicle. however, the hairs come back finer and with time, it is said to produce permanent hair loss.
i was also just reading another thread here about Aveeno's shave minimizing facial moisturizer. it is said to contain soy extract to reduce the number of times you shave and to make the hairs come back finer. i personally have not used it yet but i bought the Aveeno lotion for the body today. i want to use it after i wax my legs. some ladies claim that the Aveeno product is better than Vaniqua - and it is a lot cheaper too.
