Question Shaving, Plucking, Waxing

I have horrible chin hair, sideburns, and mustache. OK, also terrible stomach hair, chest hair, etc.

I heard shaving just makes it come in thicker and courser. I have been plucking and can't keep up with it. The hair on my stomach I bleach. That does help. I am more concerned about my chin.
What is you alls experience with plucking, verses shaving? I would loovve a smooth chin again even by shaving if I knew that would not make it thicker and courser. Plucking has minimized it a small bit. But still going strong!!

Thanks,
Jimsbride

Shaving actually doesn't make it grow any worse, thicker, faster, whatever. That's a myth. Hair grows at whatever rate it grows for you - regardless of what you do to it. If shaving made it grow quicker/thicker - balding men would be shaving their heads regularly and getting a full head of hair! The only thing that shaving does do is create a "blunt" end to each hair, rather than a fine, tapered tip - and it can give you ingrown hairs - but so can most other methods of hair removal.

It bites having to deal with this, doesn't it?

I've been using a prescription cream called Vaniqa. It slows the growth of the hair. It seems to be working for me. I had laser hair removal before I got pg, but after going off bcp, all the hair came back and then some. Then after the pregnancy, it just got worse and worse. The medication isn't covered by insurance because it is considered "cosmetic". I pay about $55 per tube, but it has lasted me about 4 or 5 months. I also wax and pluck but it's much less often now.

Hi Jimsbride I use a hair removal called SurgiCream for my lip, I shave my stray black hairs below my belly button, I think waxing, in your case, would be best. I hear ya, it's hard to keep up with keeping "clean shaven" I do not pluck any hairs except on my chin and eyebrows. Just my experience...
I don't have stomach hair or chest hair, so not sure what to tell you about that.

Good luck
